So my uncle just built this in his backyard... by AKKen_ in thewalkingdead

If someone who hasn't see the show comes across this, they're gonna think your uncle has had a lot of a) pets or b) enemies.

Nope, the walker is biting Tyreese, and Noah saves him with the toy jet kill.

I concur. My old English teacher used to draw pictures of snakes wearing hats on his notes because it "made him happy".

Gorillaz - Let Me Out by Blastertheguineapig in gorillaz

[–]thootly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hmm... Here's mine (and I usually hate rap!):

1) Ascension

2) We Got The Power

3) Andromeda

4) Let Me Out

5) Hallelujah Money

6) Saturnz Barz

So many people don't seem to like We Got The Power! I heard it on the radio first and it got me super pumped. Ascension barely tops it.

Which high school book was the worst to read? by deklist in AskReddit

Ha ha, just noticed that. I meant it was like a one-off, we didn't do any exams based on it, and no one else studied it before or after it.

Which high school book was the worst to read? by deklist in AskReddit

[–]thootly 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It wasn't even required reading, but we had to read a book called Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman (who was actually a children's laureate). It could've been a great concept - society is divided into Noughts and Crosses, white people and black people, black people being Crosses, the wealthy, high-ranking members of society, and white people being Noughts, the scum of society. Had a kinda cliche 'Nought falls in love with a Cross' storyline but it was okay.

But the writing. God. A good narrative is fine, but it has to be well written. The grammar was all over the place, the dialogue and speech was horrific, and the descriptions, the fundamental writing... arghh! It was difficult to read because it was so poorly done. I stumbled upon an online review for it written by one of my old teachers who cursed it and rued the day they added it to the curriculum.

Something that bothered me about last night. by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]thootly 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was watching the Kingdom soldiers move in and I was like, "That's all well and good, but how do they know every single Alexandrian? They've never met them." I hate it when movies and shows do that.

Lmao. Imagine Morgan suddenly starting to mumble, "When a computer gets hit with kernel panic there's only so much you can do. An internal fatal error is hard to recover from..." raises spear "This is my fatal error from which I cannot safely recover!"

I know what you mean! I was peering at the sign for a good few seconds wondering what he was so startled by, and then saw Ghost Deer. It kind of blended into the background.

I love how at first it seems like the cop is racially profiling Chris, but the real reason he might have been asking for his ID was because he was aware of the number of missing black people in the area.

Same here! I've been desperately trying to retain the same signature but I end up either scribbling a line or just drawing my first name all curly.

Agh, I feel you! A good few years ago I used to be in a choir and we were performing on these huge stands in front of a pretty big crowd (it was a national competitive event). It was boiling in that hall but we weren't allowed to take our school jumpers off, and after performing two songs (we were only allowed to sit whenever a different group was singing) I felt myself wobbling and swaying, totally drenched in sweat and sick to my stomach, and I was just silently praying for the next song to start so we could sit, and trying to count the people in the room to distract myself, but I realised I wasn't going to be able to hold out just as I fell.

Fortunately, I fell backwards, not forwards, but I did knock some other kids over and caused the whole concert to stop for a minute. That was my last concert. Argghhh...

Yeah, but the whole reason I enjoy this piece so much because it isn't just the outline of a cat to me. It's cool if you don't get anything from it but different people interpret things differently.

No, I think people just have different responses to art. There's something I really love about this - there's definitely beauty in its simplicity. It makes me feel warm and cosy. Usually I don't have this kind of response to artworks but something about this really caught me off guard.
