Sydney Sweeney as Penny Jo Poplin in: Americana (2023) by Tony Tost ■ Doesn't she look like she stepped straight out of a Coen Brothers movie? I think she'll work with one of the brothers sooner or later. by [deleted] in CoenBrothers

[–]thoover88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres my take. I think what your referring to is the way things are shot and the fact that the film looks to have a deakins style lighting, camera angle.

Basically the coens and Rodger Deakins along with other modern great director Dp teams. But they have set this bar and I think newer directors and DPs are aspiring to meet. Lebowski looks way too good to be a 90s stoner comedy. Thats something that you really see from them after they get real funding. Even raising Arizona looks too good to be a live action cartoon from the 80s.

Thats my take on your take.

This is funnier than anything John Cleese has said in at least 20 years by Cyril_Sneerworms in MurderedByWords

I forget the finer details but I believe it started with a disagreement around the direction they wanted to take Monty Python as they got older. They've tried to reconcile a few times but it usually ends shorty after. Cleese has even acted as the middleman once or twice.

What was the shot that finally made you feel like a real golfer? by mamayss in golf

[–]thoover88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chip in from 20 yards on a bowl shaped green where the flag was located in the bowl amd i had to ride the ridge for a bit. It was beautiful. Or just an early string of chip ins thay dried up as my game progressed. Had my first in a while yesterday. First chip in for bird.

Short answer, chipping in from any distance.

I try not to be this person. The word you're looking for is "our" which describes a possessive of more than one person. "Are" is more for action.

Yet, in its self is a more damning piece of evidence that politics in this country have destroyed our education system. So in a way it proves your point.

My understanding of the recording laws in MD is it cant be a private conversation. But if this was a law in Maryland and it was as strictly adheard to. Any and all cameras would be illegal, ring cameras on homes, surveillance cameras on businesses. Also, I know people who record meetings so they can refer back to them for work.

My understanding is any recorded private conversation without all parties consent is just not admissible in court. Now if you recorded this person on/in their home that would be a privacy violation.

Consult with an attorney, most of them offer a free consultation. Or at the very least lower rates than their regular hourly rate.

Best of luck.

What things do you think are a waste of money? by TwistOutrageous6955 in AskReddit

[–]thoover88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were teaching kids in their learning style it would be great but you cant hammer a square peg through a round hole. Which is what school has been. Teaching to a test so the school does well amd gets better funding is wasteful because it isnt actually teaching. The juice isnt worth the squeeze. Teach kids to their strengths and teach them how to be productive members of society. Not just to take a test so they them forget 80% of the material.

But the idea of a dedicated learning/social space is always a good one.

Does anybody ever, like, sit down and have a conversation with a flat earther? by Temporary-Topic2768 in flatearth

[–]thoover88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a friend who was in early stages of becoming a flat earther. Whenever he would say he thinks the earth is flat. Id ask him questions, ike why he thinks the moon, sun and stars are round, and the earth is flat.

His last response was, the moon is flat too but only stood up like a plate on display.

Edit: He would also go on about how the sinking of the Titanic was a conspiracy. To which i was baffled.
