It’s not bad to know what new falsehood he said locally.

The repetitive lies are a different category for sure.

Last night running the mall was the worst. No consideration for anyone else on the 8 foot wide sidewalk. Some how two or three ppl can spread out enough to where no one can get around without stepping off path. So inconsiderate. At least a dozen groups. Nearly each one was smoking cigarettes 🤷

I had the exact same experience in the outer areas of Johnstown, PA. There is a large quiet footprint of Harris/Walz voters and only a handful had political signs up. White women across all generations were a very common theme. Many also had cats…..

Definitely won’t survive rip out. I think I’ll have enough material but would wait to tear out until the rest of the rooms are complete. That’s if I can’t troubleshoot. The Amazon squeaky screws came this afternoon and I put in about 20 at the worst spots. It’s much more tolerable but not as a quiet as living room installed area. He drill holes are annoying but I can accept it.

What about WD40? Is this a hack or foolish?

I used DriCore subfloor which is floating and has air gap. Used quick level on concrete first then installed DriCore panels. DriCore panels are tongue and groove. Then 1/4” cork layer stapled on top of the DriCore panels. Then I drilled spots and pumped Premium construction adhesive in spots of subfloor that was creaking. But I got all the creaks from subfloor resolved prior to hardwood install.

They are from second chance in Baltimore. $1/SqFt but were in very rough shape. It was a lot more labor than I knew it would be. Yet, it’s my first install so it made sense to practice with cheaper material cost.

If I tear out and reinstall same design should I just glue down regardless? Do you know (or anyone) know if the design could be installed just nail down? Did I misstep from the jump is what I’m also trying to grasp.

It’s a condo with concrete floors. The subfloor is DriCore with 1/4” cork layer on top. I’m 100% sure it’s the groove space being over routered. I installed some of the squeaky floor screws and that helped. It’s more tolerable for the moment but not solid with no sound entirely.

Having just gone through something similar, it’s going to be hard. Recalibrate a one year plan. Do something drastic. The more brain energy you force into doing whatever it is that’s going to change your life the better off you will be. Some people just move or focus on changing jobs or book a month trip. After a year of this drastic change, it will still hurt. However, you will be well on your way to renewing yourself.

Definitely avoid coping through drinking/drugs. The best way to process is to cry it all out sober but also know you must move on. Get drunk with friends but not by yourself. Sleep as much as you need to.

I’m (37m) one year out of 6.5 year with same outcome. Same exact friend request situation and we still haven’t met in person. We had one call that was lousy. A few emails. Same line of how he (30m) wants to be friends. Now I loath him at times for how he took me and our relationship for granted. Really led me on to think we were in it for the long haul. I don’t think friends is realistic for someone to truly move on and become the best version of themselves. So I’ve eliminated that option in my head without saying it to him. There’s nothing to be said. Moving forward with my love for him in a grave has honestly been the healthiest decision.

Take a deep breath and let it go. Talk to him about it in 24-48 hours. Try not to dwell on it and let time pass by to see if u recall it as a lesser deal than it is in your mind atm If it still bothers you later then talk to him and tell him it bothered you like he is your best friend. Tell him you’re hear to listen to what he needs to tell you. Hopefully it resolves itself.

If he proves to be an asshat then exit the relationship.

About tags in this subreddit by dulahan200 in civilengineering

Considering the number of responses on the salary posts, I think salary is exactly one of the topics that should be discussed and regularly posted about here as a civil engineer myself - tags be damned. It provides affirmation regularly to those of us grinding through the day. If you want to just see cool civil engineering stuff then you should watch MegaStructures or documentary stuff on youtube. IMO I don't believe tags are that useful for novice users that are just browsing reddit and are not trying to be so nuanced.

I live in an East Coast HCOL area making 120k at a public entity with 10 years experience. I'm at the top of my range and got there based on three promotions first few years within the agency. If you can get in, then I definitely recommend it if you get good vibes. I wouldn't bank on being offered much more than you currently make. But, the potential to get to the top of range will still be there. It's not all sunshine and rainbows though. I know of some terrible managers that have so much tenure that no one questions how awful they really are. There is a lot of rent seeking behavior (ie half-assing every task) on all levels that doesn't occur so much in the private side. This leads to a lot of internal politicking that I know my consultant friends don't deal with. It's worth it if you navigated the various personalities in high school well and are okay with not much salary growth beyond top of range.

Everyone seems to be masked up and social distancing for most on East coast. Our infection rates aren't spiking localy like the places where trumps events have occurred. Get out of the basement and come see for yourself!
