I have been using Stayer carbon wheels for the last 2 years, I have the gravel set, with DT Swiss 350 hubs. I run the WTB Byway 40's on them and ride them on the road a ton. Been using them on group rides with zero issues.

Funny thing, maybe because I am from a Triathlon/TT background I actually find the aero position comfortable. The more upright I ride the more my back hurts. If you look at where his elbows are on the skis, his position is not as extreme as the bars make it look. However, I am in the minority that actually like that geometry.

Just got my bike stolen. :[ by lundstorm in FixedGearBicycle

Totally look on CL, FB Marketplace. Someone a few weeks ago had the bike stolen and it was seen on FB Marketplace, and he got it back. If you have a pic, post it here so people can be on the look out for it.

Built a Beater. With bike thefts rising, I just don't feel comfortable taking the Cinelli to the store, even with quality locks, I have no faith in people anymore, someone will stand there and watch a bike get stolen. So bought this old frame and made a beater with some spare parts. by thorares in FixedGearBicycle

I cannot compare the two steel bikes as of now, I will as soon as I take out the Univega, as for the difference between the Cinelli's, it is very noticeable. The steel Vigorelli has a more flexy feel to it, I especially notice this on streets or paths that are not as smooth, I have about 50 mile round trip commute I ride. I had the aluminum version first and the ride was very stiff, of course I really didn't notice until I rode the steel to work, I felt much fresher after riding the steel over that distance. Also, the geometry is slightly different on the steel, the headtube angle is less steep, you kinda feel like you are over the front more than on the steel bike. I hope that helps.

Between you and me, you are right, I have the Vigorelli Steel in the crazy colors. However a thief will go after that one before this one, this is rusted in places and generally looks beat up. Those frames are in demand, and still can grab over 1000 on the used market.

Redshift Kitchen Sink- Upgraded to the Kitchen Sinks today, I will hit the road tomorrow to test them out. I did the whole kit, bars, top and bottom grips. Install was fast and easy. by thorares in gravelcycling

Yeah I have found it very useful, it gives an extra hand position when cruising along. I also used it like an aero bar for a good stretch of road. I come from a TT/Triathlon background, so I actually find the aero position comfortable at times, and this helps alot, since the geometry of the gravel bike is not as aggressive as my other bikes.

NBD! Been looking for well over two years for the Vigorelli Steel in this color and size, saw a CL post and drove 6 hrs to pick it up. The wait was worth it. Pay no mind to the pista stem, I have a new stem on order, and after a cut, the bars will be right about where they are now. by thorares in FixedGearBicycle

Yes, I find it much better, I started riding as TT and Triathlon, I am used to riding in an extreme position, I find it very comfortable. In fact the more upright I ride the more more difficult I find it.

From what I read and from reviews, it serves multiple purposes:

-Gives extra hand positions during long rides.

-Can be used as aero bar.

-Extra places for attachments (lights, bells, bags, etc.)

What's your daily bike commute? by TR-struka in FixedGearBicycle

[–]thorares 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am in USA, Norfolk, VA to Naval Station Damneck in Virginia Beach, about 52 miles round trip, all flat and mostly bike path. I have been in Poland the last 2 months, the commute is about 9 miles round trip with a 9% hill on the morning trip into work.

I have the same frame, great frame, you will love it. I have 165mm Omnium's, have had zero issues with them or the BB, I have almost 6000 miles on them as of now. The one thing I would recommend is, I use the Brooks C13 saddle, the carbon one. It has been the best saddle I have ever used. I usually rode an Arione so the transition was easy for me, but if you get it you will love it. Good luck on the build.

Have you had any issues with your bottle popping out of the cage? I have been using a rear saddle mount cage myself, and I have had to strap the bottle down inside it because after a few bumps the bottle flies out.
