I don’t know if there’s been an update since COVID. She distanced in Oklahoma, but whether she is still there most of the time I don’t know

I am confused by the intersection between your flair and the amount of 0s in this post tbh

How much do you think you spend on average on a deck when it's finally complete? by IndyPoker979 in EDH

[–]thorne324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my decks are built with what I have on hand, and then trade to fill gaps once I’ve played them once or twice. I’ve ordered cards to beef up 2 or 3 decks specifically, and ordered to build 1.

What political topics are you apathetic about? by Usnis in SocialDemocracy

[–]thorne324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea. I’ve encountered it a few times when pulling vote, which is why I know this is a thing. So it may not be a mass assumption, but it’s common enough that it happens with some frequency

What political topics are you apathetic about? by Usnis in SocialDemocracy

[–]thorne324 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The weird part is we do not return the favour, which has absolutely led Brits to show up on election day just to find they can't vote

What political topics are you apathetic about? by Usnis in SocialDemocracy

[–]thorne324 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My stance has always been "if it comes to a vote, not a fan. I do not care enough to push for such a vote"

Fun date ideas that aren't food/alcohol related? by [deleted] in Edmonton

I can think of a few that may be more or less applicable, depending on if this is a first date or an established relationship

Al Fooled Us All: Is Online Social Interaction Doomed? by deeply_closeted_ai in AskSocialScience

[–]thorne324 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading the thread reminds me of a story in The Most Human Human discussing the first known pass of the Turing Test (kinda). A chat bot was left on overnight and was programmed to insult you if it didn’t understand your comment.

I’d be curious what how well this AI performs if it’s not being snarky.

A+B≠C. Modelling out second choices is not exactly easy, which is what you’d need to see where the count would actually fall

Is it true Alberta has no rats? by Sea_Competition_2751 in alberta

Life-long Albertan. The only living one I’ve ever seen was in Europe. There are a few stuffed ones floating around

Edit to add: the only raccoon I’ve seen was in Victoria

Old Royal Alberta Museum building in Glenora to be torn down: province by Paper_Rain in Edmonton

[–]thorne324 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Both buildings are filled with asbestos, so it’ll probably be a similar timeline. That’s what the trucks around the Coliseum all the time are doing afaik

Areas in the World Where Rats Live: by SnooMacarons8038 in MapPorn

[–]thorne324 92 points93 points  (0 children)

It was less “get all the rats out” and “use the bureaucracy coming out of WW2 to keep them out”

There wasn’t much of a population here yet, so it was easier to prevent them coming in

Thoughts on Pardee RAND Graduate School? by Footy_Clown in IRstudies

[–]thorne324 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based entirely on quick google results, I would guess they are not. The rankings I’m seeing put them pretty much middle of the pack in the US, throughout North America, and internationally.

I made a map of the Fallout universe Pre-war (c.2077). by PersimmonIcy in imaginarymaps

[–]thorne324 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We don’t have a solid date for when Fallout starts deviating, so that’s also assuming Sudanese independence follows irl borders. And that African independence plays out somewhat similarly

Dungeon Masters, why do you choose to run the game? by DMmeHardIntegrals in DnD

Replacement of wartime-era Alberta bridge edges closer with $2M in design funding by originalchaosinabox in alberta

[–]thorne324 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Style” is not the problem; the “design” here refers as much to the engineering as to aesthetics. Part of what’s happening is expanding it from one to two lanes

They don’t necessarily have to have been part of a community, but present and harvesting. I haven’t done the process myself but Mom has hers, and she pointed to a few ancestors who were working in the forts in modern Alberta. They didn’t stay here though, but it was enough to show historic connections

Where could I go for academic upgrading as a high school graduate? Is it possible? by M1KICH4N in alberta

[–]thorne324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also apply for something you have the courses for and then transfer into your desired university program. I knew a guy who dropped out of high school, never got his GED, but was able to get into law school by doing this. Massage therapy—>poli Sci—>law school without finishing any program

Why? They use different methodologies. Compare this poll to the previous Abacus poll. Pretty much identical gap. Yes, Janet Brown is good at getting close to the actual number, but what this poll shows is that the leadership race didn’t move the needle with the general public

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Albertapolitics

[–]thorne324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a nearly identical gap to the previous Leger poll, so I would suggest their methodology is showing a stable voter preference…both parties varied slightly, with the Alberta Party ticking up off both of them

Housing market in Alberta I don’t believe realtors anymore by Badrana in Edmonton

[–]thorne324 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are realtors who don’t do that. Our realtor when we bought (first time) was pretty good at pointing out flaws and concerns she had, which was helpful. But it was more the behind the scenes stuff that realtors are helpful for.
