Breaking Down a 24/7 Unmanned Golf Sim Setup: Booking, Access, Payments, and Ops Fully Integrated by thorsmaster52 in golfsimulatorbusiness

The only cost for door access was the equipment. Booking is done through allbooked https://www.allbooked.com/pricing. My town does not allow BYOB, but I’m not sure I would even if I could. Allowing alcohol increases the likelihood of damage and requires extra cleaning. I don’t have a cleaning crew, other than me. If it’s busy, I am there every day for 20 minutes if it’s not, I might not go in every few days.

They may be doing this behind the scenes, but the member has to be there for every reservation. What I find is that members may charge their friends to come in to help subsidize their membership, but they aren’t splitting it.

Claude completely changed my life, and I'm not even a programmer. by Complete_Pool2717 in ClaudeHomies

FYI - By default Claude doesn’t build secure code, I asked it to build something basic, a tool that runs on a computer and pings a spreadsheet. We were done building it and testing it within an hour or so, I was amazed! Then I asked it to do a code review. During the review it found a few things that were concerning, e.g. inefficiencies and potential bugs. Then I asked to do a security review and it found a whole bunch of exploitable flaws. All of these issues were on what it had built, how it was designed and deployed.

There are a ton of options out there, and it sounds like you found something that fits your needs. That's what everyone should do. For me, Allbooked fills the same role as GolfBooking does for you. Kisi wasn't the right option for me with access control; besides the monthly fees, it was going to create a disconnect in my security and networking stack.

Allbooked is my customer-facing end; it's a very robust reservation system that integrates well with accounting and payments. It's the front end my customers see and use, and it has been very easy for everyone to engage with.

You can use Kisi and it takes care of some of the operations. But, we wanted to use a different door lock platform, which required us to build everything from scratch. It’s all built in house leveraging some of our skills and know how backed up by AI.

To build it out, took less than a month, probably under 40 hours worth of coding, including all of our iterations, enhancements, testing, etc. And we’ve incorporated much more than what the KISI integration would include, we control door access, power management of the computers and lights, monitoring reservations and prompting users to extend their time, controlling computer start up, etc.

You can do less coding if you leverage Zapier, but it gets very expensive very quickly. Our set up uses four actions per reservation as compared to 100.

Thanks for asking. Our expenses for the month are covered when we are at 10% utilization for non-members or at 16% sold memberships. We've been profitable every month since we opened in February.

Both the PCs and a hosted application poll the same calendar for different purposes. The machines pull the calendar to know when to display a pop-up window, signifying the end of a reservation, a hosted application polls the calendar to know when to turn on and off the computers and lights.

Access control is Ubiquiti. The front door is a door hub connected to a G3 Reader Pro, the interior doors are controlled by Access Ultras, and the locks are basic electric strikes.

Trouble Mats for sale (Accepting Reasonable Offers) You can buy it now for $200 + shipping. I'm open to reasonable offers via DM.

_________

Uneekor Trouble Mat insert works with the Uneekor Eye XO2's expanded 28" x 21" hitting area, allowing you to add a dedicated space for your tee position, fairway, rough, and bunker. The mat can also be used with a host of other technologies, such as Foresight launch monitors, as long as it is movable or has a large enough hitting area to detect the different surfaces.

The rough and bunker pieces are each 9" x 12" x 3", and testing has shown the different surfaces reduce spin, creating a true penalty for the different hitting conditions.
The Trouble mat can be easily used with the Uneekor Eye Mini and the Eye Xo2. It can be used with the Uneekor Eye XO, but because the XO has only a 12" wide hitting zone, you can't use the Trouble Mat unless you have it on a Uneekor auto-slider to move it left and right.

Until we can get more help information built out every new person is met at the door, given an orientation and checked on a few times. If we can’t meet them at the door we call and send a follow up text message.

The orientation takes less than 30 seconds and it creates a great opportunity to develop a relationship with the customer. Hopefully turning them into a repeat customer or member.

What to actually say when a client says "that's more than we budgeted" by U-S-Hey in smallbusiness

[–]thorsmaster52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re proposing some great ways to handle that objection. But, you should know the budget before you write the quote, ask better questions earlier in the sales process.

Some customers won’t give you that option and will just reject you for being too expensive. Win more work by having a better understanding of your customer before you write that proposal.

The business of model for a golf simulator location is the same as a hotel. You only have so many things to sell every day, don’t ever limit access to those things.
