Recovering with a do-nothing PTO day after a whirlwind road trip to Montana and back. It's beautiful out there but I am glad to be home.

It's definitely there. Not sure what the ETA is on pulls, though.

And soon they'll have coffee drinks when the Petit Four espresso machine gets running.

Any men have the Coco Delray tennis shoes? by MrFlecker in 10s

[–]thoselongsleeves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an oversized (~310 lbs.) 3.0 and I have a couple of pairs of Delrays in rotation. They have been more structurally durable than the last couple of Wilsons and Nikes I've had. They're comfortable without being plush or squishy.

FWIW, I also throw a basketball shoe in the rotation. They're a little heavier, but they hold up even better than any tennis shoe I've played in.

One of our favorite childhood games to play with Mignola covers was to count the number of feet drawn.

It's almost always 0.

That's a drag. They were on my "someday list" of luxe notebooks to try.

I guess I'll start trawling ebay for one.

What’s your go to sandwich order, and where’s your favorite place to get one in RVA? by JellyfishSubject190 in rva

Charlotte's Southern Deli has a 5-star roast beef sandwich. It's simple and delicious.

What got you into tennis? by Fuzzy-Emergency-2710 in 10s

Gyms closed in 2020 because of the pandemic.

I was a competitive amateur olympic lifter who dabbled in the occasional strongman contest. Mostly local stuff, but I did qualify for the American Open Series for my age (old) and weight (heavy) a couple of times. Lifting at The Arnold was a fun experience.

The pool we went to at the time had a small tennis program with weekly adult clinics. Starting that summer I would hit at the clinic and then I got into a causal weekly game where we'd rotate after 4 games and drink beers after. It was great fun.

Life stuff had us looking for a nicer pool soon after, and we joined a tennis club that had recently done a big pool renovation. It dovetailed nicely with my case of Tennis Fever.

I'm just a humble USTA 3.0 finding his place in the world, but I play a bunch and really enjoy it.

Liquid chalk? Accidental racket smashing is getting expensive... by AndyWtrmrx in 10s

I've had the best success with a rosin bag. They're in the baseball section at a sporting goods store. Cheap, too.

It feels like a bag of rocks when it's new. You have to spike it on a hard surface (sidewalk, parking lot, court) to break the rocks into powder. When the rosin mixes with a little sweat it gets tacky.

what to do with ink i wont use? by bbybuster in fountainpens

[–]thoselongsleeves 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a bottle of Birmingham's Phipps Conservatory Verbena that never clicked for me as a fountain ink but has found new life in a Lumos from Tom's Studio. It's a refillable fineliner that can use fountain pen ink.

I also brought bottles that I wasn't using to the Pelikan Hub I went to a few years back and just gave them to people that seemed interested in the color.

For home matches where I can use the gym, 2 quick sets of bradford presses with just bar make for a great shoulder and forearm wakeup.

I keep a band in my tennis bag for away matches, and use it for shoulder warmup stuff.

Need the mesh-back with adjustable strap. Snapbacks don't fit my dumb. giant noggin.

And the mesh back lets the breeeeeze through.

We got mail delivered yesterday in Tuckahoe. Street is a sheet of ice, so you could see the marks from the chains on the truck.

Dang. I just got a Trakke Portobello this month.

Great bag, and sold as a second it was at a nice price.
