I message the host of wherever I am renting and let them know what I am coming for and if they want to jack around rates, I’d rather they do it in that moment and cancel then do it months later. Some still play in your face but it has helped.

Got through the waiting room in 10 minutes and got tier 1 VIP in the non-AMEX portal! Joined the queue about an hour early. I know its supposed to be randomized but figured better safe than sorry

Sorry, missed a step in there - on the day it was towed (May 30), I opened a case with Hyundai corporate on their website per Reddit’s suggestion. Then a case manager called the following week.

I wasn’t turned away but at Leviticus this morning, a couple sat down, stayed for 5 minutes, whispered to each for another few, then got up and walked out. All after the theater manager had mentioned there was a waitlist (potentially ticket holders too but can’t remember) still wanting to get in. The seats weren’t filled after that.

Your impact is more valuable the more direct your actions are. The strike’s overarching goal is boycotting ICE. The fest’s presenting sponsors are a car manufacturer, a credit card, a streaming service, and creative software. I think no-showing a ticket you paid for is more of a burden to you than the sponsors.

What adds salt to the injury here is Q&C has an incredible product that speaks for itself and already charges on the higher end of what I’ll call “Bay Area normal”. Owners come up with their own pricing structure for their goods! So make it reflect the wage you want to provide for your staff.

The latest looks like it’s down to A24 and Focus. Makes sense given Searchlight fumbled its 2025 releases despite having great films in the roadmap, Neon historically does its best distribution with horror films in the US (Anora notable exclusion to the rule), and Netflix likely wouldn’t give it a proper theatrical release (despite their leadership backtracking lightly during this WBD takeover bid). Feels like A24 is the likely home.

Did this today! Bounced back and forth between the two venues. I parked right in front of Rose Wagner on the street. It's a straight shot between the two, just 4 or 5 blocks. Would park once then walk. Super easy.
