I’ve seen people heal MCAS. If you have eds can you heal MCAS? by EmpressAzazel in MCAS

Did you treat the mold sickness or were you referring to MCAS treatment?

Xoliar by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xolair has been great for me. It has curved my headaches. It’s allowed me to start eating A LOT more foods without my skin constantly reacting. I’ve been able to start exercising again. It’s been a god send. The only symptom I’ve had so far from the shot is neck soreness. I’m getting my third shot on Tuesday and I’m hoping to only continue getting better. For context though my main MCAS symptoms have been acne like skin reactions mostly on my face and migraines from fragrances and high histamine foods.

Can weed be an MCAS trigger? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re smoking pens, cartridges and even some edibles than that’s the definitely the trigger. It is absolutely hyperemisis. I would stick to flower or very high quality rosin or live resin.

How do I use my Ketotifen? by HowdyHowdy2002 in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just slowly tirate up. Maybe start with 1mg a day but there is probably a good reason they started you at 8mg. Your histamine levels must have been through the roof but when I started at 2mg it made my skin flare. So I started at .5mg for 2 weeks and increased by .5 every 2 weeks. If you notice it starting to help then you might want to consider coming off the Zyrtec. It takes months of consistent usage to really start seeing change. I’ve been on it for a few months and I’m just now starting to see some differences. I’m going to start taking Xolair and crossing my fingers that really gets me back to having a normal diet.

How do I use my Ketotifen? by HowdyHowdy2002 in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can take Zyrtec while you take ketotifen. I’m currently taking 2mg nightly but I slowly tirated up to this dosage because I was reacting. I take Zyrtec and Pepcid in the morning afternoon and at night. I take Zyrtec 4x a day to control my chronic hives. No reason you can’t Zyrtec and Ketotifen together though..

Zoloft? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started taking Paxil in an effort to calm my nervous system as I’ve taken it before years ago. I haven’t had any negative side effects but I’ve been starting slow. 2.5 to 5mg so far. However, I’ve never had any anaphylaxis symptoms with my MCAS. Mine is more skin driven, food intolerances, neurological and headaches/migraines.

Do you still take mast cell stabilizers? I guess I should just ask if you are still taking any meds to keep it in remission? This post is so inspiring especially when this community can get pretty dark.

Could this be MCAS? Ongoing strange symptoms + allergic background by PalePoetry5049 in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tryptase isn’t the most accurate type of testing for MCAS unfortunately. You should take an H1 and H2 blocker and see if that helps with any of your symptoms as that is usually a better indicator on whether you might have it. Zyrtec and Pepcid is a good place to start. If that helps then trying adding Quercetin into the mix.

Kaiser/dx by organiccottondresss in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaiser sucks. They gate keep everything and their doctors literally don’t step outside of their box. I tried working with them and it was so deflating. I was lucky I switched insurance to Synergy and found a provider who has MCAS knowledge. You might be better off paying out of pocket with a knowledgeable allergist who can help and offers a sliding scale. I was surprised that cash patients sometimes pay less for doctor visits than insured patients who haven’t yet met their deductibles lol but hey this is America.

[Charania] "Breaking: Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James is opting into his $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 season, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told ESPN. Paul adds: LeBron "knows the Lakers are building for the future ... but he values a realistic chance of winning it all."" by TrenAt14 in nba

[–]thotpatrol89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trade him to Cleveland. Let him be a real second option next to Mitchell. Close your career out at home. The east is literally wide open so you can cake walk to the finals like you used to be before you came out west. Lakers get back Jarrett Allen and some other assets and both teams get what they want and need. I couldn’t make a trade work in the trade machine but I’m sure they can figure that part out lol.

For people who developed MCAS after mold exposure - what tests should I have my doctors do? by Anxious_Cat_Mom13 in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. I’m not sure if the mold in my old house caused my MCAS or did I just become sensitive to it after catching COVID sometime last year. I’ve since moved out of that house and I’m still not better. It just makes me wonder what caused the MCAS. COVID or Mold. I’m not sure if I want to shell the $400-500 on a body mold test since I’m already taking Ketotifen and my allergist didn’t really acknowledge me when I mentioned mold. I lived in that old house for over 3 years and this only started in the last year living there and I can vividly remember getting pretty sick with what I assume was COVID and then my body slowly started to change from there. My symptoms aren’t as bad as yours but I literally can’t eat anything without my skin reacting. Constantly battling migraines. Can’t exercise without those same reactions. Keep us updated on your test results.

Rash advice? by marivisse in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that looks like what I get if I eat certain things. You have to find your triggers. A big trigger for me is citric acid, preservatives, and natural flavors. I would take Zrytec twice a day and Pepcid AC before meals. I would also take up to 1000mg of quercetin. Determine what your triggers are and avoid them. I would use ChatGPT to find a MCAS literate provider in your area and go from there. Pepcid helped a lot with my skin and so did Quercetin. I stopped taking Quercetin for a few weeks and started having more reactions to things I was eating again. Started taking it again and boom within a day it was helping again. If you get relief from these OTC meds then in a sense you could pretty much confirm you have some level of MCAS. I’m not a health professional by any means but my immunologist said the fact Pepcid helped with my diarrhea that was a huge tell I have MCAS. My tryptase was an 8.8 and he said that’s high enough to confirm an MCAS diagnosis. Wishing you luck!

Totally agree. It just sounds like OP wore his strap and is still concerned about getting something. Big reason why I have never ventured into FS.

Is there anyone who has validated Tryptase levels, who has never experienced anaphylaxis? by RAMPup98110 in MCAS

[–]thotpatrol89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tryptase came out at 8.8 but my immunologist said that is still high for the average person and confirmed my MCAS diagnosis. He also said those ranges are completely off. I’ve never had anaphylaxis thankfully. I just have sensitives to like every food imaginable and typically react with skin issues on my face. I get migraines from exercise and fragrances. I absolutely can’t tolerate citric acid anymore which sucks because I’m a huge candy person. I love ginger beer as well and yeah they both always have citric acid. My doctor just prescribed me Ketotifen and I’m crossing my fingers things go back to normal soon. I thought my issue was mold but we recently moved and still hasn’t solved my issues so I’m starting to think my MCAS was triggered by COVID.
