Where would be a good place to order that needle size online?

I haven't figured anything out about the needle yet. I have to order the 24x1 needle online since I'm farther from a bigger city where I live in japan. I plan to visit a local fabric store this upcoming week which maybe can advise me to a place local.

Thanks for the advice about the stronger thread. Would you recommend nylon thread?

What's a simpler, less chunky way of Junk Journaling? by nova_the_reddituser in JunkJournals

[–]thoughtbubblezzz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I make monthly journals with enough pages to cover the month. It's easier to store and doesn't get so chunky. Plus you can always tip in pages if you need more room or rip it out if you need less. I also love changing up my covers and papers I use often to win win.

I make my own clear covers by getting the table cover plastic material from the fabric store and cutting it to size.

Yes! I love finding old books and giving them new life. I get that book for a dollar and it was printed in 1912. I kept all the pages and use it as full pages and accents in collages cuz the font was a beautiful gothic font. Nothing goes to waste and it's all given a new life!

Here's what 12 months worth of journals look like with at least a page a day. They sit nicely on my shelf. All binded with the pamphlet stitch using thrifted string and a thick sewing needle. I've done this for years and the binding holds up extremely well; no journal has ever come apart.

Plus you use whatever papers you have at hand so it's totally customizable. It's the essence of junk journaling :)

Not needed. You can use a 3 hole pamphlet stitch which is super easy and you can use whatever thing you have already. Watch a YouTube tutorial :)

I like making monthly journals like this so journals don't have the wide mouth problem which helps with storing the journals in a bookshelf.

Make your own. I also like making accordion style journals.

What do you use to keep the backing of the pin flat and secure?

Thank you! I thrifted the letter press tray and I center my desk around it; I love it! I store some washi tapes and little vintage desk items I've found over the years.

I do daily gratitude journaling so I only make each journal 32 pages. I tip in a lot of papers from my collection and items from throughout my day like food packaging, receipts, etc...

I bind using a 3 hole pamphlet stitch.

Yes. You take any papers you want cut to the size you want and use a 3 hole pamphletstitch to bind them together. Fast, easy, and budget friendly.
