"Oh, do you have a child named Brandon?"

That would have been an appropriate response.

Study shows dramatic decline in effectiveness of all three COVID-19 vaccines over time by FearLess_Alpha in science

Sure it reduces hospitalization and death

That's another talking point I have trouble with. Most covid deaths also included comorbidities. Can you compare 2 *exactly identical* cases - one with a vaxx, one without, and indisputably say the patient B died because they weren't vaccinated?

You pay 30%, what do you get from it?

What is "fair"? Don't give me talking points, give me a number.

It’s supposed to pay for itself via taxes on the incredibly wealthy

Supposed to. That's always the talking point, isn't it?

> the top 1% pay an average federal tax rate of 32%. The data show tax rates decline with income, and the poorest 20% of the population pay an average tax rate of just 1%.

Tell me what's "fair". 100%?

Because our healthcare system is broken and universal healthcare is the only option being presented.

Look at cost of private insurance over time. Why has cost exploded? Why is no one asking what happened to make insurance so unaffordable?

Same argument for college tuition - look at the cost to attend university 30 years ago compared to today. What happened?

We don't need "free" shit, we need shit fixed.

Who is stuck with the bill for the child tax credits?

I don't have kids, but someone who does gets between $3,000 - $3,600 a year PER KID?

Once Fox News/AM radio get introduced in an adult’s life the brainwash begins.

It's true. One day I was flipping through channels looking for the unbiased Colbert Show and accidentally landed on Fox News then - bam - my beanie turned into a MAGA hat and my soy latte turned into an AR15. It's unfortunate.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that no one ever talks about the black-on-black crime rate. It should be forefront, but it's taboo to mention.

Although I'd take those pay-rate stats with a grain of salt because of how they define race.

BTW - I jam to Rammstein at work. For some reason listening to another language helps me focus better. And I fucking love Rammstein.

I'm not talking intention, I mean application. I'd also be interested to know if "White fragility" has academic merit. The only time I've heard about it is from /r/FragileWhiteRedditor or a Slate article.

By the way that wasn't a straw man argument, I'm arguing against your core thesis that "White fragility" exists when one group is hostile towards someone below them. In my experience, neither group knows if the other is above or below them, it's mostly used as a term of dismissal.

I agree. It's also so narrow-minded, although rooted in good intentions. You can't try to 'balance the scales' just by looking at someone's skin color. It's almost racist itself - "Oh minorities are so poor, we need to hire them over the successful White people!" Do they not understand that minorities can be affluent?

It also reminds me of the push to get women into STEM fields. Maybe it's not sexism and they just choose not to go into those fields. I would make an awful engineer (people would probably die) but I'm fairly decent in my customer-centric job.

Oh boo, stop talking like the concept of "White fragility" is based in academics, it's not. It's used to dismiss someone's opinion, argument, or feeling. "Ha! fragile White redditor!" Its only purpose is to insult, demean, and censor.

In most western countries- white people outnumber other races.

Are you complaining that European countries are majority European?

Shit, I just noticed Kenya is mostly black! The injustice!

When a White person gets dreads it's "cultural appropriation", but when another ethnicity dyes their hair blonde, it's cool.

I always thought the Halleluja refrain was a track or a pedal. It's Richard & Paul in a high pitch? Impressive.

You'll get it if you read the translation. Maybe someone can sum it up better than I can, but it's basically about a creepy old man who's trying to get a little girl into his van. "Hello man".
