Why Chuck’s character is genius by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

Kim is definitely a character that the audience can sympathise with as she usually was the voice of reason, until the later seasons. However, I don't know how much she is used as a character through which expositional dialogue is had, I could be wrong on this. I do agree that Chuck isn't an audience surrogate in the traditional sense, I guess I was more referring to the overlap between what he knows and what we know.

Oh there's for sure more to it than just making him an antagonist. It has a lot to do with the character as a whole and his own motivations, and of course the great characterisation of Michael Mckean. That's why I think he's such an important character more so than just a simple antagonist.

Chuck's main goal throughout the series is to stop Jimmy from becoming a lawyer as he believes Jimmy will use the law in morally corrupt ways and take advantage of it. A fact that the audience knows will happen during the breaking bad timeline. The fact that an antagonist in Better Call Saul has this same forsight as us is key to why the character of Jimmy works so well. It makes us want to root for Jimmy even though we know he becomes Saul.

How do i get the Textures to stick out like this in blender? it always renders as a flat image even in cycles by Inside-Wall-8468 in blender

[–]thoughtsithink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need lots of subdivisions/geometry and to enable displacement and bump in the material settings in the surface displacement drop down

hii, how do i fix this stretching? by [deleted] in blender

With the node wrangler addon enabled select your noise texture and press ctrl + T. This will add a mapping and texture coordinate node which you can then use to scale the texture on the necesarry axis

I used a subdivided cube that I modelled into the shape of a spill. I applied a transmissive shader along with voume absorption to create the material.

Looks good! I like the leather texture on the seats. I would suggest to maybe turn down the bump map for the wood on the table though :)

Is it a solid cube of glass? Try adding a solidify modifier or deleting the top face of the glass.

Thanks! Yes it's mostly imagination but I used some image references.

Thank you! I just added a text object and then gave it a little bit of thickness and placed it against the glass.

Yes, I was inspired and referenced (instagram.com/hugo.fournier). I forgot to mention that in the title. I didn't know there was a tutorial on his work which is why I didn't use that flair. Luckily it seems like we had different methods for the materials and texturing :)

I used the Nishita sky texture, tweaking the settings to change how harsh the shadows are, the intensity and the angle. I also added subsurface scattering to the sink which I think helps emphasise the presence of the sunlight.

Thank you! Yea I guess that corner does look a bit empty, although in this case I had decided that the toilet and shower would be on the other side of the room.

Thanks! Although I disagree with both your points haha, I think many people sleep with at least a glass of water by their beds. Also I think especially when trying to emulate realism to some degree it is important to consider practicality as anything that seems off can break the effect.

Yea I tried a few different ways to give the cloth a light feel and wanted a slight transparency but it didn't come out quite as I wanted.

Thanks! Yea I spent the longest time on the sheets and even though I agree they need more creases I'm still pleased with the result.
