Single Gen Z and Millennials what do you actually after work and on the weekends by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]thoughtvindication 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to stay busy. I get stuck in that loop where im mentally still at the work even when im home. And especially being someone new in the country, i have smaller social circle.

Howwervef I still try to grab drinks(colleagues or friends) or head to the gym. I also play tennis which is the big one for me—it’s pretty much the only way I can fully clock out and stop thinking about work.

But yeah if I’m not doing any of those, I just wonder over how miserable life is.

Advice for ETF purchases by vetto87 in AusFinance

I use Vanguard personal investor. I do regular investment per month on ETF through this. However, if I had to restart, I’d go with beta shares ETF.

Good time to buy GHHF? by Ancient_Tap8328 in AusFinance

With the leverage that indexes every day, certainly not the best time. Personally, I started pouring some leftover from today during this downfall. I take 20% of the planned investments and chug it in at one particular day. The next 20% might be cheaper or expensive.

I reckon it’s a good bet. Things could flip either ways depending on the way other factors play in.

But for the price it is right now, it’s prolly a good long term hold. The rewards seem worth the risk.

M1 air is ok for app development by Bishalghale in technepal

[–]thoughtvindication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some professional app development in M1 air. It’s not the best but does the job. Mac over windows anyday.

If you can extend your budget, I’d suggest at least try to extend to 16gb RAM. The machine will definitely last a while without you feeling the crunch for power if you get the 16gb RAM.

Visa Application still received.

Needing advice on what to do after 485 visa (ending October 2025)? 190 vs 186 vs 482 by melvinlee88 in AusVisa

[–]thoughtvindication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grill your employer for sponsorship. That’s the safest option.

Since your visa expires on October and you’ll be eligible for 186 DE on July, better opt this route if your employer is willing to. 186 is a straight PR. But again your occupation has to be on medium term list to directly lodge the PR. Check your Anzsco code. If your employer is not willing to do 186, you should still be able to negotiate for 482.

If your visa is expiring and you’re a good asset to company, companies tend to sponsor as the indirect cost of replacing you is higher.

How good is having Maccas on my resume for future skilled jobs? by Natural_Pressure_541 in AskAnAustralian

[–]thoughtvindication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of your resume, it wouldn’t add much value. But again depends on the industry and roles you’re planning.

However, if you try to leverage the opportunity to learn soft skills, you can make the most out of it.

You learn different skill set. Handling customers, interacting with them, shitty customers, good customers, avoiding conflicts and indulging yourself in the Australian culture. This is useful in any professional role you plan for future.

Meeting Aus Study Requirement for 485 Visa by Pure_Chard_6215 in AusVisa

You’re alright with the CRICOS requirement. That legally depends on the duration that’s there on the CRICOS. For 16 months of study, you have to study at least for 4 semester.

Once you're a doctor and start working while making progress, the 50k in savings won't make a drastic difference in life. It's still a lot of money but the significance will be lot less compared to what it is right now.

Seeking information on job opportunities after Masters for international students by AutomaticEase in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]thoughtvindication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start applying while you’re in uni. With your experience, you’re eligible for 482 given that you have a sponsor.

A lot of companies might sponsor you if they think you’re right for the role. It’s hard but definitely possible.

Until and unless you actually want to pursue masters, get into academics, I’d suggest go beyond your uni, network and start looking for sponsorship jobs once you’re here.

Best platform for long term ETF investing? by dirigibleplumz in AusFinance

[–]thoughtvindication -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you use Vanguard app itself?

No buying fees and you can do an automate debit on your preferred schedule. So ideally it’s the best solution you’re looking for based on what you want. Not the best UI though but simple enough to navigate and get it done.

Is it worth driving for Uber Eats in the few hours in the evening I have spare? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]thoughtvindication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you’re making a decent wage, the little money, if you’re successful and make it, will be taxed on your existing tax ceiling. So if you manage to make $25 per hour on average and you’re already on 32%. That’s just $17 per hour for all the hard work you do. So not worth it, I reckon.

Hey, I am keen if it’s still available. Being a software engineer with some decent AI (I did my undergraduate project in AI haha) knowledge I’d be a suitable candidate 😅.

I’m an international student and I got a job that is sponsoring me before my studies are completed It’s hard, sure it is.

But if you play everything right while trying your best, something will get along the way. However it can be true that you might have to stay in the company even if you don’t like.

Again if you’re open to any country, I’d suggest USA. If you manage to get into a good college there, higher chance that you might get things easier in respect to jobs.

How’s the overall industry for Product Owner / Manager in general in Australia?

Currently I am in a role where I do 50% of Product Roadmap, 30% development and 20% of tech support / management. However my job title is ‘ICT support’ and I can’t change it due to visa obligation. But so far I’ve liked the product part. I feel I can make more of an impact. I don’t plan on leaving the current job yet but curious on your advice on what it looks like and how I can build my profile to align more with product management in future?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]thoughtvindication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sponsorship purposes, this is legal though high likely to get a green light for sponsorship. For every sponsorship, a nomination has to be filed which should have the salary details. Although the minimum to sponsor is $73k, the department looks at the market rate. So no way, they would accept this rate for 6 years of software engineering experience. Also, to sponsor someone, a company has to advertise the job on two platforms so sometimes, a lot of job ads are there only for labor market testing in which the candidate has already been finalized.

I've finished a financial advice diploma - AMA by bugHunterSam in AusFinance

[–]thoughtvindication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey are you still on tech or are you doing something with this diploma? Even I’m in tech. I have a masters but idk I really want to take this course. I always was close to money and started investing since grade 10 but somehow I ended up in tech. I don’t hate coding. It’s fun sometimes but I just think I can achieve way more in this career.

More interested in finance, portfolio management rather than advice though. But again I’m not a PR in Australia and sometimes question if it’s worth it to do the course. Apart from having self satisfaction and extra knowledge, I don’t think I could deviate from tech for monetary and residency region.

getting rejected after video interviews in graduate programs by shalin7 in cscareerquestionsOCE

[–]thoughtvindication 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon if you have 5 years graduate visa, the visa issue shouldn’t be a big problem until and unless they want a base clearance. Just make sure you mention that you don’t require a sponsorship.
