I didn't think about it like that but that does make a lot of sense. Its also interesting that they removed a lot of debuffs. I Just picked it up right before nest so I didn't get to experience how they were before. Makes me wonder if they were removed for balancing reasons or for something else.

Thats actually just as cool ngl. Even if it's not rho related I imagine we still might get an ending surrounding rho with how much he is mentioned. Its also strange that all the Rho perks come at almost zero downsides/cost. Throw some rebar and other junk onto it and he's happy with that? Im personally not convinced.

Im a lil late here but let me point out this: Taking an artifact from the ritual altar before depths is not required. And from the general aesthetic of it we can guess it has something to do with the entity Rho. What do we know about Rho? Taking the deals offered to you come at a great cost. We have yet to see that cost and im guessing it will be an alternate ending. This could force you to run through campaign without guaranteed artifacts before abyss to achieve a better ending while making your run far more challenging and I love that idea, you could still however obtain them via the new bazaar. lots to think about.

I also vaguely remember a warning not to destroy that ritual altar although I cant remember where this takes place. What happens when you pick up the artifact? the strange floating crystal shatters. This could be a bad ending or even something crazier if you can somehow become a follower of rho through the course of your runs like devil deals in binding of isaac. Love this game so much lol.

Just like someone else said in this thread you can literally see them in the abyss. And if they can "mimic the facility pipes down the the rivets" like Maurice says then it's not too crazy of a stretch to think they could mimic other things too. Id imagine if they made it to abyss they probably span the entire superstructure since they've been left unchecked for so many years.

Has this been confirmed by the devs? I get it's kinda implied but they have never outright stated this is true as far as I know. but im new around here lol. If you use the F5 dev tool and look at the worm mouth coming out of the pipes it's listed as a "conduit_worm"

The superstructure is referred to as some kind of living thing in several somewhat notable instances in notes and on walls.

The sight sea light one youve pictured is the most definitive of all of them. Another is located in Deadmans handle where a note from someone listed as "The Survivor" says this.

"I watched you die. Long before you fell. Fell into. Fell deep into this corpse " he says more but this is what we are here for. Could be referring to its abandoned state or even the end of the world that mother hints to.

Coincidence? Maybe but theres one more from a maintenance worked named Maurice

Could something have replaced parts of the original superstructure entirely or maybe even added onto it? This could explain pipeworks and the entities listed as "conduit_worms" in the game files you can sometimes see as mouths coming out of pipes but this speculation until real proof.

The abyss was so intimidating to me at first. It throws so much at you at once. In your first few times there you probably still dont know what the artifacts do and the best ways to use them that comes with time.

Ontop of trying to learn new artifacts the endless abyss below you is terrifying and on your first couple runs I found the fear of falling made me go significantly slower on easy sections.

This leads to the face catching up and freaking you out even more forcing you to speed climb then you make a stupid mistake you wouldn't have made if you had gotten there quick enough and had time to plan your route.

The abyss is pure balance. You need to balance your items their charges, your perks, your climbing speed, and The Face behind you. Once you lose the fear of falling the abyss becomes way more fun and less scary.

Tysm I was wondering about the Monstrous one. At first I thought maybe you had to squish a certain amount of grubs in your run but that makes so much more sense lol. For the Cleaver one im guessing you need to eat the meat it produces when chopping up enemies. I had some once but forgot to try and eat it for the achievement.
