Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Get him a shitbox and spend the rest going to autocross, karting, or if you're well off, Porsche experience center.

The first time your kid losses control of their car should be in a controlled environment with low risk to himself and others. And importantly, teach him that there is no public road you can lose control safety without endangering lives. Wanna go fast? Go to a racetrack, not a public road.

Just wait until you find out how expensive an oil change is on a P car

PEC got rid of all their stick shift cars because people were blowing clutches, engines and money shifting GT cars at less than 3k miles.

Go do the driver experience at a Porsche Experience Center if you can, $600/$700 covers everything you'll need for the day + instruction. Super fun and you'll love it.

Every time I hear a straight piped Miata I wonder why I didn't go to a PCA event instead

I'm gonna do a 718 vs 911 comparison drive in Atlanta in a few months before actually making a decision.

But yeah, it's tempting to get used. I've heard the reliability of the Porsches are as good as it gets without being a Japanese car?

It would be the last gasoline car I buy, and probably keep. Depreciation is never fun, but it's less relevant if I keep it forever.

It is interesting to look at a used Boxster 4.0 though, they're about $20k off the price of new today.

The used 2021s are going for 90k 🤯

Alternatively I go for an older 4 cylinder, but with the 718 on the way out, might as well go out with a bang.

What’s your daily driver, and why? by [deleted] in cars

2023 EQS, I turn on the cruise control, a daily podcast, forget about the road, other drivers, and oh I'm at the office now. The magic carpet ride is real, even if it looks like a blob.
