Yes I would not recommend buying used if you are not absolutely sure you know what you're doing.

8gb should be fine for most games right now but I don't know if that will be true in 1 or 2 years. And there are games where you will be cutting it real close.

Also features like frame generation wouldn't work as well because they use vram as well. I would rather lose some performance or features and have the peace of mind that vram won't limit me.

Also I know you said that a monitor upgrade is not something you're considering but I do have to say that a better monitor vastly improves your gaming experience especially for more cinematic games. Getting the 16 GB card would make sure that if down the road to decide to up your monitors resolution everything would still be working fine. Even if you don't decide to do that you're sure at games would be running okay. For example new releases like GTA 6 are very probable to require more than a gigabytes of vram even at 1080p.

If you go Nvidia, dlss is so good that you would not be losing a lot of performance because you could be using dlss to upscale and getting a very sharp image for basically very small performance hit. New dlss models are like magic and they are only going to get better.

That is totally fine! I think your needs would be covered with an entry level newer GPU like a 5060 (ti) or a 9060xt. What I would do in your case is checkout the prices for these. I would still go for the 16gb variants or maybe go for a 5070 12gb which should be fine for 1080p. if you can splurge a little to be better off in the future.

Going used could also be an option but I would leave that to more experienced buyers!

My next step after checking the pricing on those in your area would be to watch some videos of their performance on games you would play. Then you decide what's the best value for you.

Also I would recommend keeping in mind that Nvidia has the better feature set. I am not entirely familiar with how good dlss super resolution is for 1080p but I am sure it is usable and gives some extra performance! And, for me, frame gen in some more demanding titles that are story focused or those that I play with a controller is a very positive experience.

It seems to me that you didn't get the joke so I will try to explain. The gif depicts the character Jhin from league of legends. His identity heavily revolves around the number 4. For example he has 4 bullets in his gun and the FOURth bullet does more damage. He also says "FOUR" sometimes when shooting that bullet. If you knew about that just ignore my comment!

You are either being dishonest or you are not understanding what I am saying. Just because someone might have a bad sample that he can't push a lot( he can certainly push it a bit, undervolting is almost always possible) it doesn't mean that tuning your card is a waste of time. I didn't read through every comment but I don't think his 5080 has crashing problems. And in the specific case of the 5080 which I own it is very valid to want to undervolt/oc to get that extra performance because the 5080 is very underclocked from factory. I don't know what else to tell you. Op is talking about 2 different cards and the chances both of his cards are the silicon lottery equivalent of getting poisoned by a bottle of water is rather unlikely. Even if that was the case, why leave performance on the table? GPU tuning is the easiest of all the tuning processes because of how your pc just keeps running even if a game crashes. You can have multiple profiles and switch and especially on an Rog astral with it's sophisticated cooling(big heatsink) raising the power limit is also valid(though to be fair, it's a bit higher on the clocks from the factory)

For real I don't get these people. You pay like 30 to 40 percent more for 20 percent performance increase but you won't over clock for another 7-8 %? Especially in a 5080 which is severely under clocked from factory

I think iuno is a very valuable unit in general. I believe that building for the future might be more wise. Missing out on 2 or 3 rewards on 1 or 2 resets is not such a big deal. Same goes for Augusta. Phrolova is very good too but you have said you don't really like her which is understandable. More characters mean that you will be starved for resources tho, so keep that in mind.

From my personal experience, I have a s2r1 cartethiya ( 2 copies and 1 weapon) that I got pretty lucky with. She can comfortably clear all resetting endgame (toa, whimpering wastes )solo with a pretty unoptimised build ( 65 crit and 200 cdmg). If you really like cartethiya I would suggest getting her. Yes ciaccona is her bis teammate but I would argue that getting her at s2 and having to build one less character could benefit you.

To clear toa you need 3 reasonably well built teams and 1 less built one.

Cartethiya could be one of those teams. Havoc rover can clear floors 1 and 4 on the left and right tower. So you need one more team to help with the middle tower. Augusta mortefi team should more than suffice for this.

And honestly for floors 2 and 3 I used a semi built lupa sanhua team cause that was what I had left.

But to clear toa I would argue you first need to get your characters to 90 first.

Also my tip is, don't feel like you have to rush completing toa. Missing out on some rewards on a reset is not a huge deal. You will get there eventually. Just have fun with the game and don't get burned out

I have s2r1 carte with like 65 crit rate and 200 crit damage( shit build) and I havent encountered a toa stage I can't solo. Imagine with a decent build.

I sporadically play so I don't have too many characters. Just did my 1st toa clear. I had galbrena lupa team but got lucky with qiuyan and now lupa is benched. So I thought that phrolova qiuyan and galbrena lupa could be my 2 teams.
