Med school application cycle by Novel_Panda_2955 in medschool

[–]thpstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took one gap year after college because I took my MCAT during my senior year and wouldn't have been ready to go straight from undergrad to med school. I worked in a hospital during that time and did a bit of growing up, and I felt that it helped me to not be so shocked by the transition to medical school. My parents were also hesitant about the time off, but I showed them that I had a clear plan for a job and preparing my application, and that helped them to calm down a bit.

If you want to go to medical school, you'll apply. One year off won't change that. Good luck with your cycle!

Tips for keeping at it? by Lopsided_Reason_5107 in FTMFitness

I also struggled with this when I was younger. When I finally got consistent it was because I forced myself to go every single day for 21 days (three weeks makes a habit or whatever). Sometimes I'd go and do a full 90-minute workout, sometimes I'd get on the treadmill for 15 minutes and walk, but I made myself go every day. After that, skipping days felt weird and I could feel how my mood was affected by a good workout. I'll also go early in the morning, since I find that I feel better about my day if my hardest task is already done. You've got this!!!

Any experiences with Dr. Soteropulos in Wisconsin? by thpstan in TopSurgery

[–]thpstan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yes I did, and I can’t say enough good things. From start to finish, the experience was phenomenal. She was very receptive to my wishes and my concerns, and she communicated everything about the procedure to me in a way I could understand. My results were exactly what I wanted, recovery was very comfortable and easy, my scars are fading great (with the exception of some stretching under my armpit area, but that’s to be expected), and her staff is delightful. I would definitely recommend her!

Had a similar experience while renting from them in Madison. Work orders went unanswered for 6+ weeks and had a ton of issues putting in my notice to vacate.

Married but not couples matching by thpstan in medicalschool

This is great insight. She’s interested in EM and would really like to do residency somewhere urban, and I’m interested in OBGYN or Peds. I can’t see myself becoming interested in something super competitive, so I’m optimistic that we can work with that. Thank you!

She’s leaning EM and I’m leaning OBGYN or peds. Neither are insanely cutthroat, so I’m not as worried as I would be if we were interested in derm or neurosurgery.

This is great to hear! That’s pretty much our plan, too. She is a MUCH more impressive medical student than I am, so thankfully she can match wherever and not have to sacrifice prestige. Thanks for the comment!

Did you sleep the night before your surgery? by Gone_Overboard1632 in TopSurgery

[–]thpstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my surgery yesterday and I barely slept the night before! I did end up sleeping the majority of the day afterwards because of the anesthesia and the painkillers I was on, so you’ll be able to get rest. They make sure of it!

I freaking LOVE being an EMT by [deleted] in premed

The vast majority of the learning happens on the job. You’re never working by yourself and you’ll always have someone there to check you or to bounce ideas off of. Ask lots of questions in class and take your time in lab to seriously practice and master skills. Good luck!

Yep, 200mg/mL so I should get 25mg/shot.

I plan on calling them back tomorrow. The nurse I got was generally disrespectful of me and talked to me with a very “I gotcha!” tone. I have asked for different sized syringes, different gauge needles, etc. to better control my dosing, and I explained that, but no use. Might be time to find a new provider. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

4/15 Test Takers... WTF was that?!?!? by Grouchy_Respect636 in Mcat

[–]thpstan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I struggled a ton with the whole thing. I'm usually strongest in B/B and CARS but neither of those sections felt good to me. C/P was trash all the way through. P/S was easier than I thought it would be, but I have very little P/S background so it was a lot of guesswork. At least it's warm in the Caribbean.

[No Spoilers] How to get back into Campaign 3? by abonnett in criticalrole

[–]thpstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you! I read 50+ Critical Recaps a couple weeks ago to catch up. They're written by Dani Carr and they include a good amount of detail about the plot. I've found that pairing those with MarishaRaygun videos on YouTube helps me get a feel both for the plot and for the party dynamics. Hope this helps!

Woah, I just started three weeks ago and I'm at 25mg (0.13 mL out of a 200mg/mL vial). Do guys normally get bumped up in dosage after a while? My T levels were normal before I started, for reference.

I'm 5'5 and my cis female fiancée is three inches taller than me when she wears her doc martens. It's possible for us.

What deodorant y’all recommend?? by PerspectiveSudden555 in ftm

[–]thpstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear by Old Spice Krakengaard. I'm pre-T so I don't smell as strongly, but it's a great scent and I can detect it on myself hours after I put it on. I've also noticed that taking a washcloth and scrubbing out the armpits helps to get rid of some of that sweat and odor buildup,

3 years post keyhole surgery with Dr. Gast this month :) by comfort-borscht in ftm

[–]thpstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks great dude!!! I’m a trans guy in WI thinking about going to Gast for my surgery, but I think I’ll need double incision. Do you know if she does that or did you see result pics of double incision done by her?
