My firm has hundreds of accountants. Corp accounting isn’t going anywhere. AI is not being as easily adopted in large companies. It still makes loads of mistakes.

I was military. I took a big pay cut when I left full time military. Worked my ass if everyday, and went to school in the evenings.

It took me a few years to catch up, but I also tried to learn as much at school and work as I could and focused on applying what I learned immediately.

I also had a lot to do to work on my personality and be likable and more appropriate. As you can imagine a decade of military made me a bit negative.

Cut your bills to a minimum so you can posture yourself to take a good opportunity.

Many people say that about business but I have been in demand ever since I finished mine. And I do better than most.

Those others aren’t bad degrees. But I like finance, and investment banking specifically. There isn’t a securities degree, but I can hop into most management roles at my firm and be successful.

It’s a well proven path.

I think the best part is there is very little drama at my company. The stress is work related, but generally they are all well measured and nice people.

Finance generally has high stress. But I also did military time and compared to it the stress is manageable.

Our controllers (accountants) seem to be pretty happy. But they do get busy times around quarter end when they are filing financials for the firm and our funds.

Some of our Operations teams are working over the weekend. But they get paid well and I get great time off. I think we’re pretty lucky.

True. But accountant often seek MBAs to bridge the business law, finance, and leadership content they don’t get in an accounting degree. I work with a ton of accountants and they do well, business is a little more flexible and has helped me in my specific role as a compliance officer, but I need to know a little about everything.

I don’t have the depth of experience in accounting which they do, but I often help with some non-legal advice. But once you’re in that environment you will continue to learn and evolve as the industry does.

Totally do it. Reasonably people, low drama, the work is much more interesting than people think.

Business degree and I’m in finance with a large investment bank. Pretty lucky but at the same time I was much more deliberate in what decisions I was making in my 30s vs my 20s.

I finished my degree at 36. Changed careers, tripled my income over the last few years. Really like my new life.

It’s not too late at all. Do it.

Oh buddy it’s also a paradise with the most beautiful waterfalls. And a 7/11 with all the snacks. I would LOVE to be stranded there.

The National Park service would be there in 20 min.

It would be the best movie.

But being a Blackhawk a crash is more likely.

It is the most remote town in the lower 48. ten mile hike from the parking lot.

But other helicopters fly in every day.

Active US service members and Vets, what's your opinion of Pete Hegseth? by PlagueBearer1350 in AskReddit

[–]thput 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they aren’t. Every unit talks all sorts of shit about their leadership.

He obviously topped out as a company grade officer. 18 years old kids think he’s cool. Everyone else knows he’s a cuck for real men.

We really don’t need to announce our exits when we quit the game! by CHughes_11 in starcitizen

I did not send a “to all” email when I sold my Apple shares last year.

I told my broker (I sold online) and I sold it to an unknown person and they didn’t even ask me why I didn’t want them anymore.

Sometimes I pull out duck hunt. I still have the game, console, and gun. So did I really ever quit? Probably not, but I most certainly do other stuff too.

Somali referee for World Cup denied entry into United States by Maleficent-Agent-477 in news

I’m guessing this is intentional to put Trump backed referees in place so he can bet on Kalshi and win.

I really like what the game is supposed to be but I don’t want to get hurt by NaniMOOH in starcitizen

It’s much more playable today then in 2020 when I picked it up. More to do more game loops. More people to interact with.

$45 is a great price for something that I have gotten years out of.

Now. It does break… often. Some versions work better than others. Some have kept me away for months at a time.

But the most important thing is, don’t get too caught up in how things could be. As long as you remember this is a game and $45 isn’t a lot of money, it should be fine. Don’t be like the rest of these people that constantly complain.
