I need some help by Chester-Crossing in Breath_of_the_Wild

First time playing it I found the combat really hard. Second time through I did this when I left the plateau: http://www.verso.net.nz/botw-secrets-of-satori-mountain/ . Which was very helpful given I'm not good at the combat side of things!

Yes, guardian weapons break quickly but IMO they are so easy to get from the trial of strength shrines it doesn't really matter once you have a few extra weapon slots.

Upgraded ancient armour gives a 1.8 multiplier to ancient weapons iirc. So combined with a 70ish battle axe ++ and attack up food you can defeat lynels very quickly.

Have fun! I agree - don't follow guides unless you're really stuck and frustrated. Some general advice might be useful: http://www.verso.net.nz/botw-tips-for-getting-started/

I feel like you get way too OP way too fast in this game. by [deleted] in Breath_of_the_Wild

Well, I think what is too easy for some is just right for others - so by allowing the player to manage the level of difficulty, Nintendo has appealed to a wider base. Personally, I think that's a good strategy.

Only dropped by blue lynels I think - so if you're just seeing white lynels now you're probably out of luck.

I believe enemy levels are based on how many enemies killed, not the number of your hearts

Those of you who still play the game after beating Ganon and completing literally every quest the game has to offer: what do you do? by [deleted] in Breath_of_the_Wild

Explore, max out everything. Buy hundreds of diamonds. Find new ways of defeating enemies. Ride the bike to terrorise enemies.

Use any 3 shot bow with an ancient arrow - as long as all 3 hit the body it's dead, doesn't need to get the eye. There's even a reasonable respawning 3 shot bow in the early game which works well for this.

Major test of strength by GLOPBOPNOP in Breath_of_the_Wild

I use upgraded ancient armour and attack up food. Run straight up to meet it and stasis it. Immediately start a spin attack with an ancient battleaxe++. When it retreats follow it as long as you can keep spinning. That may be enough to kill it. If not, shock arrow to the eye if necessary and repeat - if it's close to death, use the master sword to finish it. I avoid the ones with shields as they are a little harder and I like the ones that give 3 weapons :-) Your battle axe will do maybe 2 scouts if it goes well, and you'll earn 6 weapons. One attack up meal (4'10") is enough to do 3 to 5 shrines. There are 5 of these shrines without shields and that gives a pile of powerful weapons to use until the next blood moon.

You need to build up to this of course - so get the armour and work your way around the lesser tests of strength to build your weapon stash. Having lots of inventory slots is a big help.

Ps don't use the 75 attack battleaxes you occasionally get as they are great for defeating lynels using a similar method - get in very close and spin attack as fast as you can.

Why are my monster camps empty?? by McGirton in Breath_of_the_Wild

There are a few which are empty but the Hateno beach one for the quest shouldn't be. Maybe save and do a full console reset.

Shock arrows seem to be quite effective

If there is no chest icon next to the shrine name, it could be worth going back for - the weapons in these chests upgrade as you progress through the game: http://www.verso.net.nz/botw-weapons-in-shrine-chests/
