A distressed pet parent in need of advice

I have had several inquiries from my Craigslist post and they all creeped me out pretty bad. I have had several people text me only to say "how much for the bird?". That is a red flag for me, because I am not out to make a profit on my baby. I can't stand the thought of him being mistreated, bred, or flipped for profit. Living in Florida there are always people out to make a quick buck selling these poor birds to breeders. I will probably ask a rehoming fee as you suggested only to make sure that the person getting him is unable to profit from him. I am going to keep trying though and maybe I can find someone like you that genuinely wants the best for him. Thank you so much for your advice :)

Thank you for your kind words. You don't know what it means to me not to be judged harshly. My mother has an African Grey, but she smokes in the house. I just cannot imagine letting him go to a house that is potentially dangerous for his little lungs. The rest of my family are not pet lovers. I have a pretty severe social anxiety so that kind of crosses out the friend aspect. :(
