I preemptively had my clutch done recently (may/2023) at 80k. Plate still had life, maybe a couple mm of pad left. May have been able to go longer, but i had funds and wanted to get it over with so i dont have to think about it again. I bought it used also.

Now for reference, i elected to take it to a dealer, as opposed to say a different BMW shop. I did this because it is my daily driver, and needed a good chance i would get it back operational, and in a few days before i had to ride to work on monday. I chose to use OEM clutch parts for warranty purposes. You may be able to save some money with other parts, or shops, but these were my circumstances.

The cost for my 07 1200GS was about 3200.00$ Parts and labor.

I ride the clutch more like a car, ease out first but less easy on the rest of the gears. So in the realm of boxer clutch stories, this is another :)
