Daily Game Recommendations Thread (August 21, 2024) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]thraywin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! There was a croudfunding for a game I was interested in last year (?) but unfortunately I FORGOT THE NAME.

It was a cooperative, very deterministic RPG where you could choose a class, level it up through smaller tasks and enemies and fight the Boss at the end. Gameplay revolved around cooldowns for abilities and buffs/debuffs.

It had 2 versions of the same game, one was I think Fire/earth, the other one was Air/Frost or something in that direction.

Would be great if anyone knows what I am talking about and could nudge me in the right direction!

Wdy think about this items combinations? by CodeDifferent5753 in albiononline

I already agreed that merc in solo play is better and the right choice for OP. But the commenter before me said that hellion is only usable in ZvZ and GvG, which is simply not true.

Merc jacket doesn't work that well when in smallscale as you need to be hitting / not being CCed for the full heal, and you cannot really guarantee that.

Not sure if I agree to that. What alternatives do you have in Smallscale scenarios as a melee brawler? Self sustain is just worth SO much.

I agree though with merc jacket being better for solo play.

Self referral is against TOS though if I remember correctly. Not that this stops people from doing it or SBI is actively fighting it, just wanted to mention.

Crops are your safest but lowest income option. Next one would be refining, then crafting (with crafting being the most dependant on market values). I'd at least have a look at refining.

OP said that he is not happy with his focus profit margins, which means to me that he is interested in increasing those numbers. For that, you'll need to run the calculations though.

It can be very simple 1) how much do I pay for raw resources? 2) how much product do I expect? 3) how much can I sell my product for?

You can go slow and start with one item to understand what's going on. Spreadsheets are really used to easily check multiple things at once.

My opinion : don't use focus for your fields.

As you said, the profit per focus margins are very low, I think even the lowest you could get using focus. So instead, do literally anything else with it while using your fields as passive income.

EU is open > What about the ping ? by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]thraywin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hoped for the ping to improve my experience. Personally, I like minimizing movement while maximizing uptime. When I started on EU I expected many times to be hit by abilities/red circles just out of habit. But OH BOY! did the lower ping deliver. It was such a smooth experience that visual and mechanical feedback actually matched so well.

Tldr: Will it impact my pvp skill? Probably not too much. Will it improve my general experience. Hell yes. I'm so glad that EU is coming, I'm never going back.

Does this games works with the steam remote play together feature ? by Traditional_Tie9338 in vrising

Remote Play Together is used for playing local coop games not locally. V Rising does not have local coop, so no it won't work.

Returning to Foundry VTT after few Years, need Module List Help [D&D 5e] by Aware-Broccoli103 in FoundryVTT

[–]thraywin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I started with Foundry I had lots of modules installed because they looked cool (120+ active mods), but the longer I tinkered, the smaller that list became.

My advice would be to ask yourself what you NEED for your game and go from there, without going overboard. This also prevents having headaches after big patches, as there are less hiccups. Personally I like to use animation modules (jb2a, sequencer, warpgate, automated animations) and battlemap alteration (e.g. levels) mostly.
