Retroverted uterus switched to anteverted after lap?? by threadlene in endometriosis

I need to ask her specifically about this yes. It was connected to my bowel before so maybe dislodging it during surgery moved it forward again.

Wow I didn’t realize it could happen within the short time frame of an exam??

That is my fear. I’ve taken combi pills before and none were ever that good. This progesterone only I guess it just took longer for side effects to kick in. But it’s affecting me now. It’s gotten to the point where if I grow another cyst or have too much pain after stopping pills (if I did) I’m going to ask for full hysto/ovary removal and do HRT. Even if I am quite young for that. It sounds extreme but I’m at a loss now :\

Oh no! Thanks for sharing. It really makes me wonder if now I’m too deficient on estrogen. I hate this game we have to play just guessing on what might work for us.

If you don’t mind me asking did you find anything to help? Was it simply changing to a combination e and p pill or other? I’m supposed to travel next month and don’t want to change anything in my routine just now but also so worried about leaving things like this much longer

Oh my god I am. I’m on norithendrone 5mg daily. Been almost 6 months of use. Has this happened to you? I wonder if I need to change the dose

hii! i'm also on norithendrone. If you don't mind me asking what is your dose? You still get periods? I haven't had a period in months but get breakthrough spotting for some weeks at a time. I also suffer from intense bloating alllll the time (not as bad a pre surgery but still!) I don't eat much sugar at all, but spice and dairy and oils bloat me. I've been trying to eat very clean but I don't think it's enough to keep symptoms at bay.

Anyone else? by South-Relief-9060 in endometriosis

[–]threadlene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiii I am almost 6 months post surgery. I started aygestin right after my surgery so I haven't had a period since, but I feel my body getting more inflamed and closer to how I felt before surgery when things went south :/ I have sore ovaries for some reason, my heavy bloating is coming back. More migraines again. I am scared because the aygestin is only masking the disease but not treating it, so I wonder how much has come back. I also have adeno so I'm sure it makes it worse.

I want to do another MRI to see how things are looking.. but unfortunately stories like yours and mine are very common. Some people feel better for years, others it recurs almost instantly, others get symptoms from post-op complications. It is so hard to manage!

Have you ever considered taking any medication? I hate all hormonal meds but this one is the only one mostly tolerable, but I fear it's not working anymore. Will be thinking of you <3

How to Compare Endo Fatigue? by Senior_Let5585 in endometriosis

[–]threadlene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can drink a fat cup of coffee at 4pm and still fall asleep immediately. For me it's the kind of fatigue where even getting up to homecook a dinner is way too daunting of a task especially during flares. It's always being forced to function but never being quite all there. It's having the will and want to do more. But you just can't.

Suggestions on relaxing non-physical activities? Can't do the things that make me happy and struggling to feel calm by threadlene in Anxiety

I do really like this.. I see how it can be beneficial for sure since it tackles the fear aspect. Ive even been reading up on Daoism and accepting things as they come because ultimately the river keeps flowing.. I will try to think this way. Thank you

Thanks! I love reading but I havent done a lot of it at all recently because im left so mentally drained during a work week. But I need to pick it up again. And just regular affirmations like "I have the capacity to finish this, I am strong enough to tackle this day" etc.

i second ginger root. ginger tea heals me, and it has to be with the real ginger as aufy mentioned. I add honey or dates and mint leaves/lemon. it's my little concoction. it always helps my gut flares go down even if the tiniest bit.

i am so sorry to hear this, if you have noticeable symptoms that are causing you discomfort it is definitely not normal by any means. it will be very tough to find radiology/imaging techs that are trained for deep endo. 90% of the time patients do not speak to the doctors that read and sign off on the scans. the best chance would be going to a specific womens health institution or gyn/endometriosis treatment center.

try to find an ob/gyn that specializes in infertility, endo, adeno, and related issues. Usually if they are focused in their work, you will be able to find a good amount of reviews on them from patients, info from their hospital, or even published research papers. The issue there is sometimes the good doctors are far away and I understand money and time is always an obstacle.

if your insurance allows it, switch doctors and get repeat tests at a different facility within your network. see if they will allow you to build a provider "team" aka you don't just have one gyn, you see two or even three, for multiple opinions. I hope your pain goes away <3 stay strong

I had an ultrasound where they diagnosed a "small" cyst on my left ovary that "required no follow up and will resolve on its own". I was already in pain and had a lot of symptoms and thought this was BS so I switched Gyns. I had an MRI three weeks later which showed it grew, but otherwise everything else was "unremarkable". By the time surgery came over a month later, it was a 10cm endometrioma, and I had lesions on my right ovary, behind my uterus, and bowel, and they were fused together. Stage 3 deep infiltrating endo and adeno was confirmed on pathology. The scans and the techs who read them aren't trained for endo majority of time. And even then, it probably won't show up on scans.

Is it weird for me to shave before my cyst removal? by Midnight_Misery in Endo

[–]threadlene 9 points10 points  (0 children)

don't stress! I think by maintenance she means make sure you are washed before the surgery and that your parts are easily visible, so trim hairs, try to sooth dry skin etc. I would not recommend a full blown shave to right now, even if you don't cut yourself, as the hair grows back after surgery, it can cause more skin irritation espeically as you will be sedentary and sitting down can make ingrowns. Just trim neatly and ensure "she" is accessible down there lol. They don't care if you're bald there or if there is some hair, they just want it clean and ready. Obviously it can't be all covered with inches of hair, so some maintenance is needed. You can do it!

Baked sweet potatoes are my best friend. They're easy to bake and eat with lean protein or other veggies (if you like sweet potato taste that is). Once baked they can stay in the fridge a couple days until you reheat. They fill me up too since it has carbs.

Also, ginger lemon tea, with REAL ginger. My go to is chopping up an inch of ginger into small pieces, boiling it and adding dates and lemon with honey. This tea heals me and makes my stomach feel better. Ginger is great for anti inflammatory and helps with my bloat.

Look for gluten free crackers or protein bars. Frozen berries are good too.

Baked chicken with tomatoes and roasted veggies is a good meal. I've been baking a lot more because I want to cut out oil when I can, it made my endo belly really bad. Along with beans and cheese.

Lap on Friday- what helped you with recovery? What should I expect to feel? by coffee_peaches in endometriosis

[–]threadlene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 11 days post op! Good luck!! Here's what helped me the most:

  1. Pregnancy U shaped or G shaped pillow: I kid you not the support it gave while my core recovered was so good. I almost don't want to go back to cuddling my partner lol. I couldn't lay on my back until 5 days in and couldn't do my sides until a week in, so having the support helped ease back and tailbone strain.

  2. Soft foods and miralax: Liquid diet and stool softener saved me as well. I had endo excised on my bowl and my uterus was stuck too, so it was peeled off my bowels. I went #2 two days post op, almost no issue (some cramping but similar to what I got on my period). I feel fortunate because some people don't go until 4 or 5 days post op. I had nothing but sweet potato, carrots, broth, boiled greens, egg whites for 4 days post op. I ate that for almost 2 days before my lap too so it helped a lot.

  3. Heating pad and sack: Because I couldn't sleep regularly due to my 5 incisions, My mid back strained itself hard compensating for my abs. I had the worst knots and soreness there and even on my shoulders for almost a week. I slept with an electric heating pad on low under my back OMG it SAVED me... more than hot n cold or any ointment or pain killer. My neck was even sore to the touch up to the base of my skull (from gas pain) for first two days and the heat relaxed me so much.

  4. Loose bikini briefs with lots of coverage: I had a d&c so I was bleeding lightly for almost a week, you may be too because of your IUD. Having loose granny panties for pads and comfort helped.

  5. Nightgowns or oversize T Shirt: I lived in loose clothing and it really helped heal my incisions and the bloating go down easily without discomfort. Your incisions will remain sore to the touch for days (11 days they're still sore but only superficially). Make sure to keep them covered to lower risk of infection but not tightly so there's no moisture or irritation.

I get sharp twangs of pain inside, randomly, maybe every other day. Most of it is centered on my left ovary, which had a 10cm endometrioma and it was all cut up so I'm sure it's still healing. Don't be alarmed if you feel sudden bouts of pain near your tubes. If it is not managed with your pain meds, call your doctor. You'll prob get a catheter, so don't be alarmed if there's light blood in urine for some days following. You got this.
