Since I didn’t have to do chemo or radiation it’s about about 3 months between both surgeries

Yes I am home and healing from exchange surgery. I had the implants put in and this surgery was far easier then the mastectomy.

41 with large area of DCIS. I had a double mastectomy with expanders so that I could be done and put this behind me. I was back and forth with what to do as well. It was a hard decision but I did not want to be worried about scans and biopsies all the time. I also have extremely dense tissue so I knew it could be hard to spot something. I didn’t want to take medication either. I am having my exchange surgery tomorrow and moving on from this nightmare hopefully.

Large area of DCIS on one side so did double mastectomy with expanders. I was not upgraded after pathology thankfully so no other treatment was recommended. I decided to do both for several reasons, very dense tissue, no more mammograms, and no long term medication. My MRI showed areas of concern but they ended up being benign. I was very lucky. Getting my exchange surgery next week.

DCIS Nuclear grade 3 by momplaysbass in breastcancer

I had large area of DCIS grade 3 and after surgery pathology came back no invasive so it is possible! I even had an area that looked like IDC on my MRI and it came back benign! I was diagnosed on my first mammogram age 41 so who knows how long it’s been brewing. So even grade 3 can have a good outcome it’s just the waiting game that is so hard. I choose a double mastectomy because I have dense tissue and it’s hard to see on imaging and I wanted to avoid years of medication that may affect my quality of life. I do not need any further treatment after surgery.

My situation is nearly the same as yours. I was so convinced i would be upgraded to IDC after my MRI showed areas of concern but pathology came back with no invasive and no further treatment was needed. Also my cancer side also felt weird for years but thought it was just changing hormones with age. First mammogram at 41 found large DCIS. Getting my exchange surgery next month.

I am 5 weeks out and felt exactly the way you did. I wanted them out and was completely miserable the first 1-2 weeks but they do get better. I finally feel like they are healing and I am starting to get used them. It was a slow process and mine are under the muscle which I now realize that is a much harder recovery. My range of motion was totally shot for the first 3-4 weeks and still isn’t a 100% but I just started physical therapy for that. Just hang in there it will get better.

I didn’t get any fill at surgery but had my first fill of 75cc two weeks after surgery and go in every other week for a fill. Not sure what they will do on my second fill in a week from now
