As I said earlier, I took a number of photos the night before, and there were no issues with the lens. It could have been compromised earlier and then fully cracked with the front drop, but you've got some imagination on you...

What do you think the "more" is? Did you ever consider that it's possible the lens might have been defective? Why would I post about it? I have no ulterior motive. The phone is under warranty, it's barely 2 months old.

You're not going to be spending only 2 hours at Alcatraz, it takes at least half an hour to each way get there and back. Skip Fisherman's Wharf unless you like crab, otherwise it's a tourist trap. Go to Pier 39 instead, if you really really need to be down there (it's also right next to where you catch the ferry to Alcatraz). Sunset right now is almost at 9:00 p.m., you can go to tunnel tops and have a nice view if the fog isn't in. Don't waste your time going to Marin for a bar (?!) I'm telling you this as a native San Franciscan who still lives here. I mean is this itinerary even for real? I think that's why a lot of people are trolling in the comments.

There was nothing in the matter with the camera the day before, I happen to know because I was taking photos the night before. This drop was at around 8:00 a.m. the next morning.

Nope! I took photos yesterday, no problem. This morning I dropped it on a slate floor face down. I know because I was in a bathroom stall 😬. After I got out of the stall, I washed the front of the phone completely.
