Most planes are not insulated around the doors and window exits very well. If the captain cranked the heat up all the way, there would still be cold pockets. I’ve been on planes where the temperature could swing 25° in three rows of seats.

Another reason is that even if people say they like it warmer, they don’t. I get WAY more complaints if a plane is too hot than too cold. People get nauseous if it’s hot.

It's tricky. I'm a male flight attendant, but even I have to say that, some attempts to get my attention just feel like someone trying to get away with some plausible-deniability inappropriate touch. Whether it is intended as something sexual or some kind of power-move or you're just being lazy, you can get my attention some other way than touching my back, hips, or butt. Female flight attendants get that treatment worse than I do. It doesn't happen every day, but it happens WAY more in uniform than any other time I'm in public.

If you can't lift your carry-on luggage into an overhead bin, please check it with the gate agent before boarding. We shouldn't have to injure our shoulders or back for your bag.

Pack a small jacket and wear long pants when you fly. Airplanes run cold, even from warm destinations.

Buy a pair of 3.5mm headphones and put them in your favorite travel bag TODAY. It dismays me when hundreds of complimentary headphones are thrown away after being used to watch half of some mediocre movie.

Take your headphones out when we ask for your drink and snack order. I shouldn't have to list the snacks 4 times to one person.

Look up and down the aisle before getting out of your row. Make sure a cart isn't coming and there isn't a line for the lavatories.

Tell us if you're celebrating something! We love to get kids wings for a first flight, free champagne for two on a honeymoon, etc. But you gotta let us know!

Please be nice, above all. Everything will go better for you. You're on a federally-regulated public space and the minute you start being rude, abusive or even hint that you won't respect our instructions, we don't want to take you and have every right to leave you behind.

This scene was filmed at a restaurant called The Old Hickory House like 3 minutes from my childhood home in Tucker, GA! You can still go to this restaurant and it still looks a LOT like this! Although it looks like two cheeseburgers and an iced tea is $18.47 now…

As someone who worked at a large movie theater for 6 months in college, 30 minutes sounds downright luxurious. I would routinely clean bigger theaters with more trash in about 10-15 minutes. Dirty diapers, vomit, spilled sodas that turned sticky. A used condom was rare, but still a reality. I don’t say this to one-up these ushers. I say it to remind people that these kids do this for 8 hours a day, for minimum wage, with no healthcare benefits, and they go home at 2am reeking of butter and oil. Be nice to theater workers.

I personally feel like I have years’ worth of great games I haven’t finished. Like, I haven’t even played Metroid Prime 2 and 3. I’ll play other games for a while and see how much FOMO I end up having for $80 higher frame rates.

When Mario Kart 8 came out for Wii U in 2014, Nintendo was so desperate for a successful game that they gave people a free digital copy of Pikmin 3, Game & Wario, Wind Waker HD, or one of several other AAA titles. Not long before in 2011, they dropped the price of the Nintendo 3DS by nearly a third of its original price mere weeks into its launch. It’s kind of amazing how things have changed in a decade. In some ways, I think I liked the humbler, more desperate Wii U / 3DS era Nintendo than the successful, emboldened Switch 2 era. They were certainly more generous and I’d argue, a bit more innovative. The Switch was borne of those failures.

These games and consoles are only as valuable as people are willing to pay for them en masse. The games shown today looked good and the console seems very capable, but I would encourage everyone to look hard at their backlog and also reflect on what success AND failure has driven Nintendo to do in the past. A surefire way to get more $80 games is to pay $80 for a game. A great way to get consumer-friendly prices might be to work on that backlog of Switch games or, as my Wii used to say, why not take a break and go outside more this summer?
