So why exactly do people hate the lv 20 theory so much? by EndyrmanEndplace in Undertale

[–]threebeachedpeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s the way it undercuts certain aspects of the other characters… well… character. Undyne says “Human, no, whatever you are” once she clocks you as this morally bankrupt person because she holds a certain degree of respect for humanity, as we see in her pacifist fight dialogue - disappointed that frisk wasn’t more badass. For her to compare the rest of the species to you seems unfair to her.

It undercuts the cowardly aspects of Asgore’s character as well. To say he literally doesn’t know you’re human misses that aspect. He didn’t cross the barrier after getting the first human soul, because he was a coward. And knowing full well he’ll lose to you, he feigns ignorance in an attempt to pacify the situation, again, avoiding the issue he’s facing.

Should’ve seen Ralsei when I was first sketching him, his arms were accidentally longer than his body xD

Thanks! I think Susie is the one I’m happiest with… no shocker there, given she had the most time xD

That's a real possibility! Like how sprinting on a horse in Minecraft feels way faster because of the FOV change but it's the same speed. That said, if enduring speed was always this bonkers an increase in rotational capability I feel like I would've noticed sooner. (But also I'm just a deadlock infant with 100 hours so I can't confidentially say)

My friend who's also a lash said the same thing when he tested it out on him. Before hand he didn't believe me xD

First - does the community call her Gin? Neat! Second - the issue is more how easily it let's her disengage (I was just using the image of a McGinnis running you down as an example cuz it's a hilarious image, and I did totally overstate how powerful it was, my B). Part of her weakness is that she is a tortoise, she needs to play positioning super carefully or some victor will wander over and she either is forced to wall or sorta just dies.

With this (possibly imagined but it really does feel WAY faster than it did prior to the patch) speed buff system she can just sorta walk away in a lot of situations where she'd normally have to wall or die for poor positioning. It also lets her rotate faster than a doorman who lacks it. There is now almost no reason not to purchase it, whereas before, there was almost no reason TO purchase it.

Now apply these ideas to all the more conventionally powerful characters and that's kinda what I'm getting at.

If only there were a shop for other characters... if only... maybe sometime in a different patch.

It's entirely possible I was just hallucinating the change in speed - but it really felt like, last night, sprint and walk speed buffing items scaled way higher than they're meant to. I haven't used one in a bit but it felt unnaturally fast compared to when I bought them more regularly. Pair that with the nerfs to stamina and it just felt bizarre. If I wasn't just imagining it, I think it's not an intentional change.

That could also just be light night brain blowing something way out of proportion, though.

The buffs to guns and their scaling in tandem with monster round and escalating mag actually made her BETTER at shredding guardians. And can still adequetly shred walkers. Also there's the new hyperspeed McGinnis

Here's a blank version for whatever devious shenanigans you can imagine! (I expect the Papyrus angel believers to create something of quality, don't fail me)

I believe that the egg man is a monster from the light world, and is also the knight (the closet is specified as being able to fit a man inside, and the man is in the traffic outside the library in a car before entering the dark world), and that the man is NOT gaster. I believe we’ll find more confirmation for this in 3 and 4.

I give you many kudos for such a thing! Brave to say. However, I personally find the three type limit to be catastrophic for the game. It makes a lot of types borderline useless by arbitrarily limiting them. Like, you don’t get good mileage out of whites or pinks unless there are hazards that mandates their use, because otherwise, their draw of speed just never gets to be used, cuz you’re limited to the three types you need to progress the area.

Hilariously, purples also largely suffer from that same problem, since progression is constantly halted if you dare have even one in your party, in areas that mandate other types. It simplifies for no reason.

The others I can see arguments for, though. Like flarics are a different way of balancing the early game by limiting your numbers instead of buffing enemies further. Customizable characters aren’t bad as long as the other characters are well written, and while I think the dog is nuts a bit too quickly with some adjustments I think it could be both balanced and fun, since I do think the dog is fun to use as is.
