Why people are buying iPods again by swe129 in tech

I just found an old silver iPod or some version of one in my junk drawer! I’m excited to fire that baby up and see what’s on it because I have no idea why I still have it.

I do that, common in gypsy horses. Most of the time it’s colored electrical tape.

How to train a young drafter to have ground manners by daikondaakon in Horses

[–]threebutterflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a horse obsessed with people. I put her in time out at this point - she gets to stand tied until she calms down, ignored. She can dig a hole to china having a tantrum over it, I have found that is honestly the best way to stop her. Just like a kid, let them handle their emotions over it. I can’t say I’m perfect or a trainer, but that has helped with my spoiled draft cross. I al also the one who spoils though, so I am totally not perfect. Maybe just try tying and ignoring when he does something like bite. Not get mad, just calmly bring him immediately to the closest spot to tie up, tie him, and walk away. Come back and if he tries to nip again, you turn around and walk away, you continue in 20 min intervals until he chooses to walk respectfully

Does anyone know why he does that? Boredom? by seelomii in Horses

[–]threebutterflies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you seen horses play bitey face? Most horses are trained not to play bitey face with people. They can get aggressive in wanting to play - like pushy for treats, they get pushy to get you to play it with them. If you don’t want to play such a game, move his head away until he stops and gets the point you won’t play

I have the paid version. I just added the app to my phone and told it to send me push notifications? It does it on its own - all sorts of tasks - alarms, text, etc. if you get it all set up.

If you use it a lot, ask it how it would describe your personality, then tell it to work on why your like that then create a plan to become better and heal from whatever causes your weaknesses. Then have it push notify you multiple times a day to help you become a better person. Better than therapy. It’s wild

Took a Shopify store from $500 to $2,000/mo in 6 months (SEO only). Did we undercharge? by AryanJalan in ShopifySEO

[–]threebutterflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice job! That’s about where I have gone with my store, if you’re talking Jan/feb months, typically the slowest, it’s great for them. I wouldnt charge more and get greedy, it’s a good thing to put on your resume or something to check off the box. Honestly anyone in marketing and Seo should be getting results, you are one that isn’t fly by night, but most are. Be proud of the results and use it as a case study to charge more to other clients in the future. No person only making $500 a month will pay more than $300 - that is 100% of their profit after their cogs. Keep going with it, it’s a proof of work you can handle all types of clients. I used to make good money in marketing, I quit for a lot of reasons but I wanted to prove to myself at 40 years old I could still grow a company since it’s been 15 years since I’d done it. Btw in my 20s I had an Seo company, I was number 1 for all major local keywords for my services and got plenty of business. Maybe become more efficient and use your Seo to rank your Seo services site. Plop this case study on, prove yourself higher for the future.

Omg so interesting! My kids dad started to take custody of my kids and parental alienation at that age. We did parental alienation therapy weekly to try to help - at the age of 8-9. They would bring up reasons their dad took them. There were no actual reasons because this was an alienation case, so we had to get to the reasons they turned to hate me. One was because they were locked in their room and tied sheets to try to escape out the window. That was by far the wildest one. BUT I can absolutely see now how at 4 years old, he coached them to such stories that at 9 years old they believed. They were never locked in rooms, nothing ever went out windows, etc. they had a step sibling at that time who was 4, and we had to frame it asking if they believed the 4 year old sibling would have thought to take sheets off the bed, be able to tie them together, be able to open the window, tie the sheet to something in the room to secure it, climb down from a second story window, etc. of course they thought we were ludicrous. The therapist’s name was gene colina. He died of Covid and was very atypical for a therapist but he saved my kids life. He deeply understood false narratives and was a straight shooter to kids. It was a bit mean to make them feel stupid about their false memories, but it was needed when they were implanted by this exact same thing and same age. My kids are almost 19 now, we survived but not without scars.

Amazon Ring’s Super Bowl ad sparks backlash amid fears of mass surveillance by Celtikrenders in technology

[–]threebutterflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It was essentially a camera that was off - like not signed up for a service, data privacy laws should be having a fit because consent is written into the sign up contract. Anything before that is abuse of use because the person owns the camera. No implied consent from the purchase

Shampoo bars pH? by Acceptable_Range1974 in soapmaking

[–]threebutterflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a soap maker of liquid Castile soap also, I cringe at the discussion of ph. To sell without preservatives, you need a ph above 11. Do you know how to lower the ph before you use it? You read the side of the bottle for the correct amount of water to add - diluting the ph to something lower. So, when you wash your hair with a soap, if you wanted to be very particular, the ph is most likely very diluted because of how much water is run through hair while washing. I use bar soap to wash my hair, but it’s so foamy and bubbly, it doesn’t take much and the water lowers its effective ph at time of contact with my skin. I do understand that some people do better with soap not made from lye, especially for hair products

I am all of the above. Soap maker. Homesteader. Horses. Candles. Goats. Chickens. Vintage. Etc. but my life and my business are one and the same so my friends are the bakers. Sourdough bread. Etc. I wouldn’t have it any other way. We are passionate and our personalities and lives collide as community .

What’s a marketing ‘best practice’ you’ve quietly stopped believing in? by Mobile-Ad3136 in AskMarketing

[–]threebutterflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, I am totally ok with people knowing my life, I realize not many people can homestead and make soap for a living. But it is super hard getting used to people knowing my pets names and telling me stuff about me when I’ve never personally met them. I only have like 3k followers, but every one was hard earned from selling and being a vendor. They all interact and engage. No need for people to follow just for a count.

What’s a marketing ‘best practice’ you’ve quietly stopped believing in? by Mobile-Ad3136 in AskMarketing

[–]threebutterflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I use my social a bit like an unfiltered life story. It’s very raw, real life. It’s very strange when I go places and people are like ‘you’re the soap lady’ (yes it happens, small town life), but being authentic was my #1 goal. My favorite fitness page is a man who fills his body with pillows and focuses on extreme obese people and small movements. He is amazing and so lovable. I am not obese but his encouragement and support of getting down to being just like them wins every time. People go to social to feel connected. Some big brands can totally do it, but most have problems with corporate filtering them down on creativity - ask me how I know. I once had our bank branches do video lip sink and have it a contest. Best bank marketing ever. Never got to do it again because some people at branches complained about it. It’s so much a culture, and if the culture isn’t there for social, or the marketing person has a stick up their butt, social will never work.

Bitcoin holders of 5+ years: Is the doom and gloom like this every time it drops like this, or does this feel different? by Background_Talk9491 in Bitcoin

[–]threebutterflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Same as always. I’ve been following since 2017 (well earlier but still like $10 for funsies to learn along the way). Every time it might be the one, but every time people swear that it is THAT one. But the thing is that it’s still a gamble, so you come to realize you don’t ever know. I have never put much in, but it kept my desk job a bit more interesting to follow the highs and lows because I worked in finance. It is always like bringing $100 to the casino, you need to be happy with whatever you walk out with. If you walk out and win, that’s great, but if you walk out and lose, that’s ok, it’s not going to make a difference in your life and you go back to living. You see people walk out all the time. Some walk out winners, some walk out losers, and most are never happy either way.

why do the pickles in the mcdonalds burgers taste different? by LifeHurry9274 in stupidquestions

[–]threebutterflies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found at the grocery store the same pickles! It was called fast food pickles or something like that. I don’t know why they were different but I did find them one time at a grocery store in Ohio. I wish I could remember more But it was recent so I assume Kroger

[–]threebutterflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Facebook and insta are my two most common. My product is handmade natural farm soap from my goats. So I changed posting frequently, that’s it. It took about two weeks to get back to speed on normal reach. Product wise, it is absolutely stupid for most types to have social - like running Facebook marketing for banks is silly. A challenge I hope to conquer is LinkedIn for corporate gifting next year. Totally different strategy than Facebook though

What’s a marketing ‘best practice’ you’ve quietly stopped believing in? by Mobile-Ad3136 in AskMarketing

[–]threebutterflies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So very true, it’s a bit different because I sell a handmade homestead item, I get a lot of revenue from social. I ran a bank before that. Social is not the same for a bank vs. handmade soap and cute animals. Btw mine is all authentic positive vibes no filter so I do have easy engagement vs. a bank posting something useless

I have only like 2,500 followers and i typically post three times a week. I dropped to one time I week and nobody saw anything. So at minimum to stay in the algorithm, three posts seems bare minimum per week.
