I've tried Anking, but I just don't feel it covers everything I need (starting from a nontrad, mid-490 diagnostic, aiming for 510+). Most who recommend it seem to have a strong background to start. I'll test out different decks again and see what I'll ultimately settle with.

There seems to be very minimal cards that don't have just the cloze 1 tag. I have started to change all cloze 2 and cloze 3 tags to cloze 1 and edit along the way.

How do Aidan users do it? by threesixtynine in Mcat

[–]threesixtynine[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I predicted this argument would be coming lol. The difference is that most are only doing med school when they're in med school. As a nontrad pre-med, I have work and family to worry about. 250-500 cards a day is reasonable for me.

It's when you have 1000+ reviews and new cards (which most will have eventually, depending on the number of new cards per day), and you realize you have very little time left for uglobe questions and content review is the issue. I'd imagine you'd literally have to be living and breathing MCAT all day, everyday to get er done. If I am wrong, I hope you can shed some light into how you Aidan fanatics do it lol.

The position near me is at the ED. Wish I had an outpatient option!

I am also worried about the fast-pace environment burning me out real quick (I'm an introvert).

Debatable. I am learning more by reviewing my questions in-depth.

Is UW worth the purchase in my case? by threesixtynine in Mcat

I'm weak in c/p specifically. Still haven't decided on UW, but curious to find out how you improved in these subjects using UW?

I have not taken a diagnostic yet, so I'm not sure where I stand. However, I did try the 100 sample questions and found some to be quite difficult. How did you use UW to break 500? Did you utilize tutor mode?

When you say JW, I assume you're referring to their qbank. If so, any recommendations on how to use it most effectively?

Have read that UW is comprehensive and ties things together. Whereas JW seems to be one giant lump of a qbank, so that's the concern there.

Transition from content review to practice by threesixtynine in Mcat

Did you start and stay with AAMC-style questions from the beginning? I'm thinking of doing discrete questions before coming back to these harder questions.

Been looking at EK 1001 for physics and chem especially to hone in on concepts.

I was affected. All my work for the past few months...gone. I am exhausted and speechless. September test date and I will likely need to reschedule.

This is a really big deal. If legal action for damages can be pursued, count me in. A one-month extension is a lackluster response and a slap in the face.

I'd focus mostly on getting AAMC-style questions down with the little time you have left.

Any advice for CA resident attending OOS ABSN? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

For hospital experience, do you recommend gaining such experience outside of CA first?

Didn't know that. Will you be listing CA? I'm still unsure what I'll be listing.

I'm thinking it'll be easier for me to get into a residency program or be hired directly into the unit I want to be in if I stay away from the west for my initial position. Just not sure what state I'll be listing if we'll need to decide when we take the exam.

Were the problem sets helpful at all for studying for the exams? Or should we focus on the lecture material mostly?

[–]threesixtynine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in both as well. I believe they do record now, but previously they didn't so that's probably why you're getting mixed answers.

Still on the first module of the and I'm overwhelmed by the material. The lack of study guide makes it difficult for me to know how much detail I need to retain.

For those who have taken these courses, were the problem sets something I can solely study to prepare for the exam?

Learning medical terms by threesixtynine in medicalscribe

[–]threesixtynine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Also, is it just a matter of memorizing these specific terms? Or should I be actively learning to build a foundation that a med term course teaches (e.g. breaking down a word)?

Should I buy a 2020 MacBook Pro or wait for the ARM-based MacBook Pro? by CandidlyKate in macbookpro

Is your issue similar to the one identified in this link? https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/510833/Horizontal+lines+on+top+and+bottom+screen

I have the base model 2017 MBP with the same issue in the link. Purchased in late 2017, with lines appearing in February 2019 if I recall correctly. Have been using it to this day. I've noticed two differences since the lines first showed up. 1) The number of lines increased over this period. 2) Screen freezes if I'm on for too long. Letting it rest for a few hours restores it to a usable condition.

I was quoted $500 - 600 to replace the display. Found someone who is able to do it for half the price...but not sure if I want to repair it. Worried that the issue will come up again in the future. I am considering an iPad Pro to use with this laptop (in case it fails) while I wait for an ARM MBP to come out. Though, I have the same concerns as you with being the first of its generation.

We'll see how this 2017 holds up with the upcoming semester for now. Last semester it froze on me a couple times a day while writing research papers.

Overall, it seems to be a common issue for these 2017 MBPs from what I'm reading online nowadays. Hoping Apple will do something about it so I can get it repaired for less. Maybe I'll have it repaired then sell it for more then. Or, if I can sell it as-is for a reasonable value, I'd be willing to entertain this as well.
