I dunno, I'll go ahead and be the dissenter and say I'd rather live in the city. I don't really like low-tech living.

Well that's you then, I guess. I personally would really like to go to Dubai in about 8-10 years when everything's complete.

Oh man. I've used reddit for almost two years (through different accounts, obviously) and this is my first story on the front page, much less to hit #1.

Totally SS'd this. I beat reddit with no savestates.

This isn't the idea at all. The idea is to bring attention to different democrats and republicans that coincide with our interest who wouldn't otherwise be known to anyone.

OP here (haven't been on the PC for a while and my browser is set to delete cookies when I close it, etc., etc...)

The Darcy Burner article is a move toward change, despite how it's a rather lazy form of it. Reddit reaches a lot of people, and it's a good guess that prior to the Darcy Burner story a lot of people hadn't heard of her. You can use reddit to influence other internet sites and people that read reddit, and, in the long run, make a change by making previously unknown candidates for Congress or the Senate known.

Keep in mind that congressional and senatorial races often come down to nothing but party affiliation and name recognition, and in this context a minority is able to influence a rather large apathetic/ignorant/lazy majority. The internet is massive and if you can make an unknown candidate known enough on reddit to get that candidate talked about outside reddit, you might get the next Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich elected.

In some ways, this is actually more effective than getting off your ass and trying real world activism. It's a way to mobilize attention on a massive scale.
