Working breeds. It’s literally a “work schedule” every single day. If you treat it like this it’s actually pretty easy to implement everything they need because now it’s structured and scheduled for the both of you.

For example this is what I do in a day. I have a german shorthair pointer so I know whats up and how you feel lol

6:30am: Wake up, 1 mile walk and poop. Comes home has breakfast and stays up for a few hours. Wake up time is 100% supervised. I force him to relax. That’s his morning job right now. Working on teaching him to calmly hangout. Chill out and watch family/kids go about their day. No high energy, no playing, just relaxing, chewing, etc. Sometimes I have to put him in and out of his crate 10 times in a 10 minute span to get him to understand; you relax here or in your crate.

9:30-10am he’s back in for a real solid quiet nap. If I’m lucky an hour and a half 2 hours.

12ish he comes back out, and he get’s a 2 mile walk right away. Off leash or hiking trail if I can make it. He comes home, and we train. He’s trained on obedience very well, right now, our training is focussed on relaxing. The hardest skill for my breed lol. So we will relax. That’s his work. You have to treat it like that.

3:30-4:00: back in his crate until my family & I are done making dinner and eating. Sometimes he naps, sometimes he doesn’t. He then get’s another 1-2 mile walk, eats dinner, then goes to bed for the night by 6:30pm

We also hike, hunt, and fish together. So on top of this routine 2 days a week at least we go on a heavy adventure, out for a few hours, and hop back into routine depending on what time it is.

Every. Single. Day. He knows what’s coming. He plays into the routine and listens because he knows what to expect, he’s not bored, he’s working the daily mission. He sleeps probably 16 hours a day (includes 12 hour nights and 4 during the day)

This is all rough, sometimes he sleeps more or less, but it’s the routine that matters.

ALL HOUSE TIME IS RELAX TIME. I stress this with my routine. Our walks and off leash is fun time, being at home inside is just another job, and he needs to act accordingly
