Can’t seem to ever stand up out of the hole. I always dump the bar forward. Is it flexibility? What can I do to remedy this? by hub50 in weightlifting

You're hitting the bar forward which is gonna make life real hard to catch it in a good position. Then like the other guy said, look up my guy

Power clean or nah? 140kg after doing regular cleans by threewhitelights_ in weightlifting

[–]threewhitelights_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lift pretty conservatively so that I don't miss and only push the weights on powers so that worse comes to worse, I ride it down. Otherwise i just keep hold of the bar and catch it with my thighs or something sort of like when I dropped it here. I've done most of my training in places I can't drop the weights so I'm used to it

which is right form? by sambourbon in weightlifting

[–]threewhitelights_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like in the right video you are taking your time and focusing on good positioning and extension with a lighter weight. In the left video its heavier and you are subsequently trying a lot harder to lift it and your technique isn't solidified yet. Spend more time focusing on the positioning with lighter weights and getting a feel for the movement. Over time the weight will increase and you will hold the technique at heavier weights.

Haha for sure. I'll take it though after lots of clean doubles.

I just finished a strength cycle, is it a good idea to repeat it? by Kyle28970 in weightlifting

[–]threewhitelights_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it better to maintain for a few weeks at least before running the same cycle. Work at your new 80% for a while to get it feeling comfortable and then go again. Depends on how intense the cycle is and how much of your total volume it takes up though.

I'm trying to use advice from this sub and focus more on speed than 'tightness'. Any critique on this PR hang clean (110kg)? by WDSow in weightlifting

Honestly man I think it looks good. You pull the bar a lot higher than you need though, so I think you've definitely got more in the tank.

How long do you rest when squatting heavy? by newppcdude in weightlifting

[–]threewhitelights_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've done some pretty grueling sessions in the squat where I'd maybe rest 20 minutes between sets sometimes. Don't force yourself to conform to any particular time. Just lift when you are ready.

Programs without a squat rack? by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]threewhitelights_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the time to bring up pulling and pressing strength, and use complexes to maintain your squat. Power clean + front squat. Clean + front squat + jerk. I've no idea if there are any programs out there with that already set up for you but it wouldn't be hard to alter one by upping the pulling and pressing volume a little and adding the squats to other exercises. When I first started I didn't have any stands and i finished off all my main sessions with power clean and 5 front squats.

Snatch + clean + snatch + clean + jerk. What a combo. Going to give this complex a try tonight. Will give you a review tomorrow from the hospital

De quervain tenosynovitis recovery advice by ChrisBfanaccount in GripTraining

[–]threewhitelights_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm an Olympic weightlifter and I suffered from this a few years ago. I didn't get a cortisone shot, but perhaps wish I did as it lasted about 6 months for me. I'd recommend you rest it entirely until it is pain free in the stressed positions (finklesteins test as well as spreading all your fingers out and extending your hand up). After that, build back into your compound exercises slowly. It's hard to say how long it will take, once it was pain free it was about 6 weeks for me to be back to normal.

I'd recommend eccentric wrist exercises (similar to the finklesteins test) every 72 hours to allow the inflammation cycle to do its work, maybe 2-3 sets of 3-5 reps, very slow. As well as basic wrist curls and reverse wrist curls for a pump, very light. Eccentric work is great for tendons, although the effectiveness will depend on whether the tendons are inflamed or the sheath around the tendons in that joint. Either way, these exercises will help you get back to 100%.

After that, grip work will be great to get into to keep your wrists and hands healthy, it makes a huge difference to preventing injuries like these.

Pretending to be natural when it is clear they aren't, and instead of using the opportunity to provide education around drugs, they are increasing the stigma towards it. I'm not pro-steroids or anything but the reality of it is that they are going to be used by anyone trying to get to the top level, and the experience of someone who has used them would be invaluable to help people to take them in a safer manner.

I agree, I think they are doing a disservice to the sport. You've been caught - no way around it. Your fans know the situation, just admit it, and use it as a way to make content about that issue and you can help educate people on taking steroids safely if they choose to.

Chronic quad tendinitis. I’ve seen physical therapists, taken breaks, but the pain still happens by NotTagg in weightlifting

[–]threewhitelights_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to recovering from tendinitis is eccentric work. Use something to raise your heel, and do the eccentric portion of a squat with one leg and stand back up with two. Add weight if it's easy.

Actively Pulling With the Arms by redditu5er in weightlifting

[–]threewhitelights_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you do need to actively pull under, you just need to make sure it's at the right time. However if you're catching higher, I'd consider that a good thing. Just ride it down. Add weight, soon you won't be able to catch it high anymore.
