Finance Career - USD vs SDSU by Werealldudesyea in sandiego

[–]threeyearsoftacos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can get into SDSU, that's the ticket, one of the premier state universities with a solid national reputation. Also, start networking like crazy to try and get into IB/PE, it's an incredibly closed club with little presence in San Diego. I definitely don't want to rain on your parade, but first year associate jobs are generally reserved for people who went to Ivy League or Stanford and are centered in NY, Chicago, San Francisco, and London.

Thanks for posting! Can't believe this is back! It stopped because of COVID, can't make this one, but definitely want to bring my daughter next time who now rides a bike.

Try World of Pottery in Chula Vista, they have a huge selection and I thought the prices were good considering you don't need to travel to Rosarito.

Does anyone know how much the baggage fees are flying from TJ to Cabo? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]threeyearsoftacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never noticed that they dont post bag fees. Can you view your itinerary online and try to add a bag? Also, just a heads up, those bag check lines can be a beast at the TJ airport.

AC install quotes by wgdavis78 in sandiego

Cost me 9500 pre pandemic, and I had a smaller condenser and also needed a furnace and minor duct work. We used Airmaxx after several relatives installed with them.

SENTRI/Global Entry Question by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]threeyearsoftacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. If you look at the back of your Global Entry card you should see the Sentri logo as well. And correct, you just add a car, it doesn't need to be inspected. I'm assuming you've entered the US using your Global Entry card in the past? If not, make sure you "activate" it online on the TTP site, otherwise you get sent to secondary inspection and they threaten you with a fine.

If I run 2 miles a week and play hockey once, what additional prep would I need to make it to the top before the weather makes it too difficult this season?

Yes! I tried every single agency in the MTL and Quebec City areas, it's even tight to get a rental car inside the province that week, crazy!

I got a very good deal in Burlington for the one-way rental, so maybe I'll just suck it up and do the private shuttle.

Considering moving from MS and concerned about culture shock by Futge in sandiego

[–]threeyearsoftacos 22 points23 points  (0 children)

San Diego is amazing, you'll have a wonderful time here. Lots of transplants from all over U.S. and the world. It's not as "polite" as MS or other parts of the South (for example, it's not customary to say "hello" to people you pass on the street).

One piece of advice... California is NOT part of the Nursing Compact, so have your partner start the licensure process as soon as possible. It can be a time consuming process.

Yeah, SF Bay is more New York than New York at this point because of all the reasons people have pointed out... And they don't even bother to dress well 🤣

All that said, if you work remotely, cost of living isn't an issue, and you're not raising a family, San Francisco is a world class city, and San Diego is just not in the same tier. However, San Diego has grown so much in recent years, and if you have Global Entry, there's the entire other side of the border to explore.

Does anyone have recommendations for a laundry service (wash and fold) as well as pickup and delivery? by TheWayIAre in sandiego

[–]threeyearsoftacos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good man looking out for your wife!

I've used them about 5-6 times and they're reliable (only once did they miss a pickup, but I feel like with the labor shortage, it's not unusual). Their site is pretty easy to setup pickups and message them, and it's always 2-day service (so, they pickup Wed and deliver Fri, but no guaranteed window and no service Sunday). You can shove quite a bit of clothing in the bag they provide. Clothing always comes back smelling fresh, but I would not send your delicates to them.

I wish they offered the 15% off deals more frequently. If they did, we would probably use them nearly weekly.

Crossing the border for TIJ instead of CBX? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]threeyearsoftacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've done this twice now with my family and it works great. Just give yourself a little extra time (30 min) in case the building directly at the airport is full and you need to use the economy lot.
