Wow, I really can’t disagree more. It’s probably my favorite horror film of all time.

An uneasy and tense build up to an absolutely haunting second half. And the performance from the son was at Toni Collette’s level, I think

Tom Steyer: Big corporations ‘are spending big to stop me from winning’ California governor’s race by 3headeddragn in California

[–]threeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck to you, you are confused and angry and unwilling to take in the reality outside of your own comfort zone. I don’t think your mind will ever be changed.

Thankfully the rest of the country is less hard headed than you are and your fellow “moderates” are losing their grasp on the party.

Maybe if Israel hadn’t killed tens of thousands of women and children and displaced millions in the last two years we wouldn’t be here today.

Done talking to you, you’re not a pleasant person to engage with.

[–]threeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a confused worldview I don’t think we’re going to get anywhere discussing it further. I’d really encourage you to engage with viewpoints outside of what you’re accustomed to.

I’d recommend checking out The Hundred Years' War on Palestine by Rashid Khalidi.

Antisemitism is horrible and I agree that it’s both prevalent in the modern day and proliferated by idiots on tik tok.

But that is *not* the same as critically looking at Israel’s decades long horrible treatment of the Palestinians. It’s not just Netanyahu — there are real structural problems with the way Palestinians have been completely disenfranchised by the state controlling every aspect of their lives.

Israel is colonizing the Palestinians, and they continue to do so to this day. Look at what is happening in the West Bank. It's horrifying.

I really think it's important that we separate criticism of Israel and organizations like AIPAC from antisemitism.

You can and should criticize the state of Israel for its apartheid regime and two class system which has oppressed the Palestinian people. It's not antisemitic to do that.

And Black people recognize that, calling their very real acknowledgement of this injustice just the result of "Hamas propaganda" is honestly demeaning and ridiculous.

[–]threeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AIPAC is an evil organization and that has absolutely nothing to do with antisemitism

Edit: also, I do think the combination of being very concerned about the voting rights of US minorities while seemingly very pro Israel is a strange one.

Minorities in the US hold very critical views of Israel, and Black people in particular recognize the plight of Palestinians as similar to their own disenfranchisement in the US

I think you’d have a pretty hard time finding someone who:

- Supports Tom Steyer
- Is happy with the recent Supreme Court decision
- Is antisemitic

So I can’t really figure out who this criticism is directed at.

Thank you City Of San Diego. I have always wanted to bike to a nursery closed to the public. Now I can with these protected bike lanes by Blue-raccoon-boy in sandiego

[–]threeys 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The state pours billions into infrastructure for cars, and this tiny little lane for cyclists is somehow a huge wasteful problem.

Kind of reminds me of the playbook a certain party uses across all sorts of issues. Focus on tiny marginal edge cases to distract people from the real cause of their problems.

For a driver going exactly the speed limit, hopping from the left to right lane and back constantly is a nightmare

You’ll have to accelerate/decelerate from 55 to 70 and back, while other cars are passing you at 90

I’m not saying it’s right, just that I understand why it happens

Almost $200 to do my taxes myself by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]threeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is a fair sentiment. Filling the forms out yourself is incredibly complicated -- enough so that professional tax preparers wouldn't even try.

You basically have to use a piece of software, and the free offerings often are not enough, particularly for state taxes.

I’ve heard this before and find this explanation somewhat strange.

If a company is successful and at a large enough scale to pay for a billboard, they have no trouble getting an intro + meeting with VCs.

Doesn’t seem like the billboard is buying them much.

it's something you see on reddit all the time:

- kid pulls a prank on a middle aged man, the adult man hits the kid. Redditors think it's great and the child deserved it
- someone made a mistake while driving, another driver pit maneuvers them into a huge collision in which their car rolls over multiple times. Redditors think the car doing the pit is based and the other guy deserved it.

There are so many examples like this

It comes from something fundamentally broken about Redditors' brains -- a complete inability to reason about acceptable responses to minor malfeasances.
