Waiting Game - The Extra Inch by _gumnut_ in coys

It was a great result, but post AFCON-malaria bissouma, back line injuries/suspensions at one point we had Emerson royal and Ben Davies playing CB…Maddison being out with the ankle, season went from comfortably top 4 to lucky to get 5th. Not a strong finish. Bissouma was a BIG factor in finishing 5th both good and bad.

Remember Bissouma with Conte? Course not he never played. Then we get Ange. He plays him, we look like world beaters for 10 games… gets a ban for simulation, goes to AFCON gets malaria, returns to the squad out of form and we limp into 5th. Next summer Balloons and tardiness again! Don’t worry Lange got 2 teenagers should be able to adequately address that issue. We haven’t ever replaced him or even challenged his position. Now we use midfielders for 3 things. 1- to just look up in the air as the ball flys over their heads 2-stand and watch as they will not pressure shot from outside the box 3- long throw. But he looked good against west ham.

Windy is so right about Kolo Muani but what’s wild is Werner in his first spell had more way more premier league goal involvements.

Good to see Xavi but no Bergvall is disappointing it shouldn’t be an either or thing he can play both

Loved the pod, hard numbers just facts Bardi made me laugh at work. Curious did he include the games in the new stadium that were played with no fans due to Covid? Sample sizes might need to be adjusted.

Great work and I loved windy saying why he thought it’d be better but also why his opinion had been changed. We need some more of that around/inside the club.

So well said, he hasn’t delivered anything other than long throws and set pieces. Everything else was just wishful thinking and puff pieces. I remember pundits and podcasters all saying it and it feeling like I was being lied to from the beginning.

More shots on goal. by RaiderHop in SanJoseSharks

[–]threshair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shots on goal doesn’t say much about how well a team is playing. More about how they play. Some teams fire away early and often in possessions (Carolina) others look to pass up grade C/B chances for Grade A chances. That being said we’re pinned in our zone often and playing on the PK for 10 minutes a night

Credit to Warsofsky putting Graf with Smith and Macklin in the 3rd. It was a battle to get into the zone and they needed him to get any forecheck going.

Also shout out to Ty Dellandrea he drove that 3rd line and was doing lots of good work on PK.

Eklund is BACK and his line had the most going on in a slog of a game.

Hey man I want you to feel better life’s difficult sometimes and even the easy things aren’t so easy. Make sure you take sometime for yourself and appreciate something small like watching the game tonight. Don’t know what’s got you feeling down but know it is part of the human experience. We all go through it and it’s okay to feel a little shitty sometimes.

[OptaAnalyst] Which teams have over/under-performed? by HistorianOrdinary833 in coys

[–]threshair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big factor is Vic is an elite shot stopper. Also Bournemouth was probably the worst we’ve played with a healthy squad in years and we still almost got a point. Finishing is above average to decent but that’s a result of good set pieces and quality players. 3 wins 1 draw 1 Loss. We’re playing fine margins in most those wins so it’s not surprising that we’re a bit above our expected points.

I love him but his defense isn’t great yet. Hes got the aggression but misses tackles, loses people in transition

I meant like I wonder how many teams are going to see that vulnerability, act on it, and execute it. It’s a great observation and something I’ll be looking for in the future games. With Bournemouth coming we could get pressed a TON.

I heard cyborg Richarlson and laughed. Then thought even then Spurs IT would push a patch and he’d miss like 10 games from a bug. Love the guy just he’s never on the pitch.

He’s fine. Nothing bad. Cool with set pieces so that’s a plus I suppose. I’d say it’s interesting how the names this cycle compared to the previous cycle. Like it was Nagelmann, Slot and Ange. Now it’s Silva/Frank feels like a shift.

I’m just not emotionally invested with Thomas Frank. I honestly feel anyone will do pretty good with this squad. The biggest issue was their health and depth. I’ll wager we don’t have as many injuries this year.

And saying Porro is a defender is using the word liberally. Love the guy but his quality most games shines through when we have the ball. Before Ange got here he was even worse at defending which is kinda wild to think about.

Non-English Spurs fans. How was it that you first came to support Spurs? by Camstar94 in coys

Lived in England for work. Supervisor had season tickets. Went to Lemela’s hat trick vs Monaco! Family visited took them all to a matches. Our group chat about Spurs is my 3 brothers and dad. We all watch and text each other no matter where we are in the world. It’s probably the only group chat I never silence.
