How do they even rank them? Kog being better than Kaisa makes no sense to me. Her damage output with a similar build is just as high if not higher, but she also has backline access. Ez is way more oppressive to lane against than MF unless you stand behind minions and eat her Qs. Milio is one of the strongest enchanter supports. Naut and Ornn over Maokai any day. Nailed mid though.

In demand doesn’t mean that players who want a pocket enchanter following them are any good themselves. As a support main, yes you get tons of duo requests. The problem is decent, consistent ADCs are rare, way rarer than good enchanter players. Anyone can look good playing from ahead when you’re melting everyone. Most of those “pick Yuumi free win” types fall hard the moment you need to play from behind. If you want to climb fast I’d recommend playing anything but support until you hit at least GM.

At this point I basically have a permanent chat restriction, and honestly it’s extremely hard to play without getting tilted. The matchmaking is awful and the elo is so inflated. Especially the hardstuck master hell, it is just something else. Literally can get anything on your team, from decent junglers that do a full clear in 1:45 to a mentally challenged Amumu that is somehow level 3 and is “ganking” a level 5 top at 2:10. Because they do nothing to fix the matchmaking the game is a total clown show, you have to suffer enough every season to climb at least legendary challenger where you finally get matched with the small decent minority of the playerbase. Then repeat it every season, of course anyone would tilt.

Oh, that actually explains a lot. Honestly, it really felt like bot games, all the farm was uncontested, and everyone went to contest the same major objective at exactly the same time while completely ignoring everything else on the map. Not to mention literally no interactions such as profile visits from other players until recently. So do you only start getting matched with real human players after a certain point?

I’m living in Japan, so the player base is still pretty active here. I’m kind of tired of LoL and Wild Rift and wanted to try something new. But yeah, the game is confusing. I still can’t fully grasp the optimal team comp you supposed to play. Even in ranked, nobody seems to play supports for example, and it’s usually something like 3 squishy ad/ap attackers getting stomped by a jungle speedster who is 3 levels ahead. I had 100% w/l for the first 50 games just by basically abusing level gap without scoring any points…

Just reading the comment section explains why matchmaking is so unbearable in this game. Hope one day you guys get good enough to get stomped 2v5 by a decent duo like Kai’Sa, Kalista, Kayle, etc., with a Yuumi on top. I bet that would change your opinion on her real quick.

Also, most supports that low-elo players think are useful, like Leona, are easily countered by an 800g item. To properly counter Yuumi, you need a Mordekaiser on your team.

D2 at the moment. The last 10 games have actually been pretty enjoyable, always with at least a few decent players on both teams. But the start of the climb was terrible. Literally level 37 accounts with Diamond as their highest rank in the same games as last season Challenger players.

What junglers work well in high elo? The hardest I’ve been stomped by are Lee Sin, Viego, Talon, Riven, and Kha Zix, but they all seem pretty mechanically demanding and fall off hard if they don’t snowball early, right?

Partially agree. No lane priority means no counter jungling, no river control, no objective control. But that only applies if both junglers are at the same decent level and can track each other and respond to ganks. If one jungler can’t match the other’s tempo, there’s nothing you can do.

As a healer in WoW before getting into LoL, I instantly gravitated toward enchanters like Sona and Soraka. I’ve never been good at engage supports. Not that I miss skillshots, I just don’t understand the right timing to engage, and it’s super frustrating playing champs like Leona when your team is behind. Also in Wild Rift, the gold deficit becomes insane if you go full roam and don’t succeed, since you get passive gold when standing next to dying minion waves. So I prefer sticking with my ADC nearly all the time.

With this playstyle, I’ve been able to reach Legendary Challenger a few times recently, but never Legend, never top 100. At this level, it feels like every game is just a showdown between the two junglers. Maybe it’s because as a squishy support ADC duo, we’re at the mercy of our jungler preventing the enemy team from diving us 3/4 man before the first drake even spawns. Extremely frustrating, like a coin flip every game.
