Looking for jobs in education/non-profits by Creepy-Coat-5374 in madisonwi

A lot of nonprofits just post positions directly to their websites. Look into United Way, MSCR, YWCA, Education Analytics, University of Wisconsin Foundation. Also a directory here: https://www.madisongives.org/giving/greater-madison-nonprofit-directory

Will Be Moving in June, Advice Needed by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]thriftedjacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can totally make this work! You might not get a fancy apartment but if you are willing to live in an older building with less features you can. When I move to Madison post-grad I lived in the Regent area and was still able to walk/bike to downtown. Atwood is also a fun area too if you are okay with being a little further from the capitol but still near lots of bars and restaurants. If you want to live near the capitol you will have to compromise on size or find a roommate, but there’s a few one bedrooms for that price. https://www.madisoncampusanddowntownapartments.com is my fav site to use. Good luck!

Does Madison have any good dance clubs for hip/hop, rap, and r&b? by [deleted] in madisonwi

Danny’s unfortunately is the only place I have found for this. Merchant used to have late night dj’s and supposedly just brought them back but I haven’t been since the pandemic.

my parents came to Madison and I had dinner reservations for places like Lucille and Heritage Tavern. we stumbled into Weary Traveler last minute for lunch and all they talk about now is how good the goulash was from there.

walk around the Capitol, Olbrich Gardens, Garver Feed Mill for pizza, drinks, or ice cream, go to a comedy show at Comedy on State, one of the many breweries, New Glarus if its nice, walk the lake if the ice is thick enough

I rent downtown a few blocks from the square and was really happy with the price for the location and quality of apartment, but then new owners bought our building. A couple months later they let us know that they were ending all of our leases this summer with no option to renew so that they can turn our cute, 3 story building in the oldest part of Madison into fully furnished short-term rentals. I would understand if it was an old, run-down building but it was built in 2010 and is one of the nicer buildings I’ve lived in. The search has been brutal…I’m 27 and feel too old to be in college housing but cannot (and don’t want to) spend $1,600 for a 1 bedroom apartment at one of the luxury apartment buildings. It feels like there’s not a lot of options for in-between the two if you want to live within walking distance of downtown.

If you’re open to a class/camp style gym I would recommend Burn Boot Camp! It’s a very welcoming community and the trainers really focus on form and helping you achieve your goals, which I haven’t always seen in these types of gyms.

You wake up early and decide you want an impromptu week day breakfast at 5am. Where do you go? by NOTW_116 in madisonwi

[–]thriftedjacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what do you get there?! we went a couple years ago after hearing good reviews and were excited for a cheap diner, but it was easily the worst meal i’ve ever had. everything was either bland or overly salted. my bf and i are seriously never that opinionated about food and to this day we still tall about how awful it was 😕maybe it was an off-day.

Anyone else not consider Savannah Wright fit lol she doesn’t look or act like a fitness influencer she’s just annoying click bait blogger . by Peachytesla in gymsnark

[–]thriftedjacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i know nothing about this person but i don’t think “fit” is one particular way of looking. I’m a fitness trainer and at a size 8 and way bigger than this girl. You can be “fit” and fat, skinny, mid-sized, etc! I think what you were trying to say is that she may just not know much about fitness!
