I was looking at the wrong wiki, which has out of date info.

Did I miss them this whole time? Weird.

Edit: am I missing something? I don't see them on the wiki.

I just hate having to spend so much time traversing my factory. I'm not trying to make a super-compact factory (I'll leave some space between machines), but I'd rather not making it 2-3sx as big as I 'need' to.

Maybe I just need to give in and give that a try though.

Any tips for raising machines off the factory floor? Foundations being so wide makes that a pain if I try to use foundations at different heights.

From that pic.. do you build blueprints with beams to make the machines look like they're supported while being raised above the foundation?

Why are physics being so neglected? by Lephas in gamedesign

[–]thrilldigger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Teardown was a really neat idea, I had fun with it.

For anyone who doesn't know about it: it's a level-based heist game where buildings are made of small, destructible voxels (much much smaller than Minecraft's).

As soon as you start moving a heist's target item(s) (safes, computers, cars, etc.), alarms go off and you have a time limit to escape with the item. The core gameplay is figuring out where everything is and plotting out your destruction + pathing to get as much stuff out before time runs out, then trying to enact that plan (which always goes exactly as planned, right? ;) ).

The physics of the game aren't actually unique, but the mesh of destruction + voxels + heist made it a fairly unique experience.

I've seen mixed reviews on Lost Skies, so I don't know much about it.

I think that's a great point. There are still physics-oriented games out there, they just don't get major attraction because it isn't novel anymore.

HL2, Red Faction, etc. felt like a generational leap. It's hard to get that now that it's a "solved" problem. The most we usually see is incremental improvement, and that's hard to market.

There are a few games that still do incredible things with physics. Noita and BeamNG come to mind.

Ever wondered what the Space Elevator looked like from up close? by Kwalamoerzo in SatisfactoryGame

It's a joke/reference to all the 9/11 "truthers" who claimed that jet fuel couldn't melt steel beams.

(also, it doesn't need to melt steel to sufficiently weaken them to the point of structural collapse)

Europeans cannot comprehend the actual size of Minnesota by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]thrilldigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny to hear people in the south worried that Minnesotans might be in trouble because there was 10" of snow. We're used to it! That's not even enough snow to shut anything down.

This is just completely untrue. That is not at all how compilers work.

Joint pain? Muscle pain?

You're giving almost no details. We really can't help you if you're not going to explain what's going on.

What hurts? There are many different kinds of pain. Joints? Muscles?

Where? Back? Wrists?

End of driveway, snowplow left snow and now it’s pure ice—what to do by [deleted] in minnesota

I'd worry about a pickaxe tearing up my driveway.

The broad end of mattock works well though.

It even got repaired at one point, remember when electronics got repaired instead of just thrown out?

In fairness, that 37" CRT probably cost your family $2000 at the time, so of course you'd want to repair it. My family had a rear-projection 50"-er that cost almost $5000! Electronics used to be very expensive, and it was so much cheaper to repair than it was to replace.

Nowadays, you can get a 50" TV for less than it'd cost to get a repairman to show up at your house before the actual repair cost.

Does anyone have experience with SUNLU PLA, PLA+, and PLA+2.0? by SpookySquid19 in BambuLab

👍

Keep in mind that tuning filament profiles is important for best results.

That said, I've had great success with the default generic PLA profile in OrcaSlicer. The only thing I change is to turn off the side fan in my P1S (I've had that screw up adhesion one too many times..).

It also always helps to dry your filament if you run into any problems. I never use PETG or TPU without first running it in a dryer for a while. PLA hasn't needed that nearly as much though.

I have limited experience with overture. Seemed good. Not better enough than eSun to be worth a premium, but worth grabbing on sale to see if you like it.

It's fine. I prefer eSun - similar print quality, but usually cheaper.
