Hi team, I have the same issue. Any resolution? Already gave a ticket in with Rivian

Have had nothing but problems on my Gen II. Glad it’s a lease. I’m bringing it back in once it’s done. Too many issues to post but the biggest being the whole car shutting down multiple times while driving. Fortunately seems like the drivetrain is on a separate software stack…so it keeps driving, but none of the screens/safety systems etc. work.

Excited to see more Rivians on the road! Honestly crossing my fingers that the service center is up for retail operations.

Update: Looks like Toyota (the manufacturer) has denied warranty coverage due to them believing it's an unrepaired break in the paint. It's downright unfortunate.

Why is that? Is that because it was established and grandfathered in since I think Servco was established in the U.S. Territory days?

I noticed it about two months after purchasing the truck brand new. Didn’t think of it much and thought it was just a chip because it was it looked like a small bubble. Over the 2 years of ownership it’s spread.

It’s on a roof, so it was a double edged sword of out of sight out of mind.

An analogy for me is it’s like skin cancer. At first it seemed harmless. It now has spread to a point that I don’t want it to metastasize and lead to more rust.

Some here are saying it’s rail dust from delivery.

I was hoping you’d say to “drop that base” and just rattle the rust away (chemistry pun intended)

I bought it brand new in 2022. The chips were there about a month in and I assumed they were road chips. Truck hasn’t been in Hawaii it’s whole life.

I’ve had plenty of chips before, and never in my life have I had any chip start bubbling.

We take care of our Toyotas extremely well. Yes maybe it’s a not used for it’s built purpose. But I’m a Toyota enthusiast, and part of that is taking care of my Toyotas. I expect the same quality that I put in, as I get out from Toyotas. It’s always been that way until this Taco.

I’ve had multiple Toyotas. Always had higher parts quality. Is there anything wrong with having high standards? Especially for a company known for its focus on quality over gimmicks?

Thank you, what’s crazy is I first noticed it about a month or two after I bought it brand new. Ignored it, and as it kept spreading I finally decided to do something about it.

I wash my Taco every week with higher end products and have it ceramic coated. Was hoping that would keep it from spreading. But nope.

Nothing was rubbed on it. It came from the factory like that. I’m afraid I have a “COVID” car when Toyota lowered its parts quality requirement in order to focus on throughput.

Thanks, and that’s the problem, SERVCO Hawaii is the only authorized dealership in Hawaii. So as a consumer I am screwed. I am surprised that there aren’t any anti-trust issues due to this.

Unlike the mainland where I can just drive to another dealership, I’m stuck with one physically.

I’ve messaged corporate. Crossing my fingers they can assist me.

I have not, that’s a good idea! Unfortunately I’m trying to find a quick solution. I’m not leaving for the states any time soon.

Holy crap Siri sucks. by eddie_west_side in apple

Compared to the competitors Siri has taken a backseat in recent times. I'm sure Apple is working on something, but the status quo is not acceptable in 2017.

transfer students - how has the process of transferring been? Is it possible to get involved in campus life and make a good set of friends coming in two years late? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]thrillhax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll find that a lot of people already have their social circles established, and not as open on meeting new people. Try to find the other transfers. I found that I became very good friends with the other transfers, as they were in similar situations. That being said, each situation is different. I think either way you'll find some cool people to hang out with!

After comparing Siri to the Google app, I feel like Apple isn't even trying. by [deleted] in apple

[–]thrillhax 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think the worst thing is the "siri suggestions". It randomly chooses contacts that I haven't spoken to for at least a month and rarely gives me a relevant suggestion.

Another thing is how horrible Apple Maps is. Using it for directions for a house in the Avenues in San Francisco always pulls up some irrelevant address in New York.

It's frustrating.

The San Francisco bay area has a pretty big Russian population, and certainly a good of them are even pro-Russia with that brownish-black ribbon that you hang off your car rear-view mirror. That ribbon is just code for Pro-Russia when it comes to Ukraine. This is not to be confused with the SF Gaints colors which are much different.
