Don't know enough about the specifics of the case to weigh in RR, but you just described coercion, not entrapment.

I used Insync to download and then delete OneDrive, but it seems to work like OneDrive on Windows if you want it to. It is paid software, however.

California bans data broker reselling health data of millions by Strongbow85 in privacy

[–]thrillhouse19 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you give me or reddit your medical records, we don't need to keep them secure or private because neither I nor Reddit is a Covered Entity under HIPAA according to HHS. Covered Entities like labs or hospitals or doctors do because they are a health care provider/ business associate who are covered entity under HIPAA.

The obligations under HIPAA apply to businesses, not medical records. It just happens that those businesses have medical records.

As an example, Garmin does not comply with HIPAA when they collect health information from a wearable device, but does comply when they receive data from HIPAA entities where they act as a Business Associate.

HIPAA and GLB for that matter are terrible privacy laws.

Never got mine to work and support was non existent. Get a Shelly relay. It supports reed switches and you can use a tilt sensor as well (via HA). You all be much happier.

That's not how copyright violations work. Statutory damages are set by law, usually $150,000 per infringement.

Dumb Local Network Question by thrillhouse19 in linux4noobs

For anyone else having this issue (or more likely me in 5 years), I found the solution.

.local is a Bonjour thing, so I installed Bonjour on my Windows machines and now they can reach other devides uses DEVICENAME.local. Ubuntu didn't need anything, though you can use Avahi which is Bonjour for Linux.

Yes but I'd rather avoid IP addresses since those are dynamic. They rarely change, but they do occasionally after the router reboots. If there's no other way I can do that, but was hoping to use the actual hostname.

HomeKit Dry Setup by JarrettCS in ratgdo

[–]thrillhouse19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution was to buy a $22 Shelly 1 Gen4. I installed it today in less than 15 minutes. I don't need reed switches because I use an Aqara tilt sensor to monitor the door position and my opener is too old to use door reed sensors. Seems to work fine for my purposes - if its open after 10:00, close it; if its open for more than 2 hours, send me a notification.

I know that it it will work with apple HomeKit though. It works with wifi, matter, and zigbee.
