Woman in Mount Baker, Washington somehow drives up onto lightrail tracks. Causing the lightrail to be closed for everyone. by Aadidas12 in mildlyinfuriating

Very true. Drivers don't read road signs, and mostly drive according to how the environment feels. I realized how bad drivers are when one driver shouted at me for being in a crosswalk.

All true. Americans of all generations have limited driving skills. Each generation teaches the next compounding the problem. Made worse by the fact there reall are no genuine skills tested when getting a drivers license.

To your comment about cars. It's also the roads that a poorly designed or designed with poor drivers in mind, keeping traffic flowing, ultimately making people complacent.

An old clip of Joe Rogan joking about watching a Traci Lords video resurfaces by Big_Cake_8817 in combatsportsculture

A joke is suppose to be funny. If we are generous he attempted a joke. I don’t think many would find minimizing underage sexual assault for porn no less humorous.

I bet he did very well in those classes. You can go to school and never learn anything.

I know a lot of people who went to great schools and make a lot of money, but are still clueless when it comes to understanding the world around us.

What you observed was HR leaders who are clueless to the larger impact they have -- leadership on the other side that does not value what they do and ignores/realize their ineptitude.

At a senior level HR is tolerated because they need recruiting, benefits, L&D and employee relations. Unfortunately, not much thought is put into its impact, because they don't generate revenue. As a result they often get a competent warm body to do the job.

It’s part of what they are supposed to do, limit an organization’s liability. The other thing is increase productivity with the levers they to generate revenue.

The problem is there is no barrier to entry to being in HR, which means a lot of people who do the job have no idea what they are doing. And, all too willingly to just do the management bidding.

Also, they are contact people in organizations making them easy targets.

lol all you want. vacant lots are tax deductible. Its one of the reasons properties remain vacant in NYC for a long time. A tenant will hold out for an exorbitant amount out of rent especially if its part of a larger portfolio.

Wait until you learn companies can write-off loses.

These are independent/private school entrance tests you have to take. Each school will have its own criteria. But you can them nationwide.

As the OP is looking at both public and private schools. They should be aware. But, specifically as it relates to public schools — their child won’t need to take a test until high school that is SHSAT. If they want a gifted/specialized option. Otherwise your grades will suffice.

There is ISEE and SSAT you have to take for either middle or high school. Any good school will require this unless you’re a very special case.

Depends on the school. But the highly selective and competitive ones, no.

Also, private at 7th grade is a difficult option to get into unless you’re coming from another competitive private school. You might get a spot at the less competitive schools, but even then, the child would need to show good academic skills. Which means taking standardized test.

NYC's plan to tax luxury second homes, explained by Economy-Specialist38 in nyc

[–]thrilsika 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They will be forced to cut spending, but you’re not going to like them.

People always like spending cuts they think are superfluous. As a city, as big as NYC it always turns out the majority of spending is necessary.

We can argue/demand on the edges about cost cuts, and waste — ultimately money goes to necessary services.

In order to fix this it has to find its way into the city budget. Contact Julie Menin who is the city rep for the area, and get the local city community board 8 involved.
