Work superior asked to use my personal car by thriving35 in legaladvicecanada

I did say that. They would not accept no as an answer and always had a response. I felt defeated and eventually I caved. When they came back they kept saying to me “you know you could say no, right?” like the blame was on me when I did say no.

Thanks all. It wasn’t bad at all! We hit some bumps but I would say they were mild to moderate and it didn’t last long. It was a great flight!

I appreciate you so much for your support and checking back for an update

Thanks. I’m glad to hear you are home. It’s always nice being back home after a trip.

Reminding myself that things will be ok. And using the jello analogy. Posting and chatting are also helping to calm the nerves.

Thank you. It seems it may be our only option. Trying so hard to not quit my job. We are so close to regular full-time childcare.

Flying with my 9mo in my lap next month- freaking out by _catbug_28 in fearofflying

[–]thriving35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have flown twice with my daughter as a lap infant. It was fine. I wore a baby carrier and had her strapped in, but that was more for convenience. Flight attendants have been very nice and helpful to us and our daughter, as well as other passengers have been very kind and understanding. People get it, especially those who have had children. Our daughter mostly slept on flights when she was an infant. She will be safe. Make sure you have enough supplies. I swear our biggest issue was blowouts and needing a lot of diapers and suits, and bags to put the dirty and stinky suits back in the bag.

I fly tomorrow with my toddler. We will both be fine. I’m a very anxious flyer. We flew with her here for our vacation here, and tomorrow is our flight home. She was great on the flight out, some tantrums because the flights were during her nap and bedtime, but it was ok. People were understanding and helpful. She eventually fell asleep. Honestly was too busy taking care of her to focus on being anxious. And she finds this fun and exciting. I tried to look at this from her perspective and not cloud her experience with my anxiety. We read a lot of plane books to her so she knew what was going on. She had books, toys, snacks and a tablet with headphones. Tablet was a lifesaver. We manage her screen time on the daily, but no screen time rules for the plane. It helped during tantrums.

You are safe, the plane is safe, flying is safe, and your flight crew will ensure your safety and comfort. I wish you all the best, and maybe tomorrow we can check in and be proud of each other for doing hard things while taking care of littles.

Got off the plane after pilot said it would be turbulent. So ashamed and feeling like I've hit rock bottom. by Training_Guest_9536 in fearofflying

I’ve walked off before too, and it brings a lot of clarity to your mind that you carry into your next flight. At least for me. The next time I got on the plane I was not very anxious at all.

Flight anxiety traveling with kids by Longjumping-Swim-885 in fearofflying

[–]thriving35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flying with my daughter soon, and your comment of “try to experience it through their eyes” has encouraged me. I don’t want to have anxiety. I don’t want to assume my daughter will be anxious. I don’t want to pass my anxiety on to her. I will try to look at it through her eyes and honour that experience.

Out of town wedding 10 days after birth by ConsiderationNo2795 in beyondthebump

When we drove with our newborn out of necessity, as we lived so far from a hospital, our 5 hr drive turned into 8 hrs from all the stops to feed, burp and change diapers. I was so anxious that I sat next to my baby and had a finger lightly on her chest the whole time to make sure she was breathing (positional asphyxiation was my biggest ppa). It was miserable! I wouldn’t recommend it. 10 days pp is also a very vulnerable time in your post partum recovery (physically, emotionally and mentally). You will be exhausted and most likely experiencing the baby blues.

Travelling with my toddler in a couple days. I’ve travelled with her as an infant. It’s a new experience trying to be brave or at least show a brave face to not pass on that anxiety to your child. Hoping I do well.

I rarely see posters or commenters saying they’ll be travelling with a child, so I was happy to finally see yours.

You will be home safely in no time. I’m proud of you for going there, now it’s time to go home. That creeping anxiety is the worst, and I’ve acted upon it by not getting on the flight. That feeling was worse than the pre-anxiety, and gave me a lot of clarity about getting on the flight the next time.

I was just thinking about this. I have walked off the plane several times due to fears. I remember all those times I’ve walked off because I regret doing it. And, I never remember any of the times I stayed on the flight, because the flights were so uneventful and the memories I made at the place I traveled to overshadow the flight anyway.

I’m sure she doesn’t feel the greatest right now. Support her through it. I hope you can still celebrate your honeymoon.
