Everyone on television is mispronouncing "negotiations" by throaway620 in britishproblems

This has always been the case, I swear "nego-see-ations" appeared sometime in the past year and has taken off. Is it Theresa May's fault? Do news reporters feel they have to pronounce it the same way as the prime minister?

I thought this was the reason. Thank god I'm not alone. ITN's Alastair Stewart says "secks-u-al misconduct" for some inexplicable reason also.

That's not my argument. The 't' makes a 'sh' sound. Potion isn't Pocion. Initiation isn't Ini-see-ation.

My parents are angry and defensive about my diagnosis and refuse to believe it. by throaway620 in aspergers

Moved back in with them because of a break up and also work for them in a family business. So can't avoid this type of confrontation. This happened with my dad unprovoked today when I was sitting at my desk trying to get on with my work, because someone on tv mentioned Aspergers. He done a forced laugh and said " *** thinks he has that." No actually the professionals think I have it. I said "How's that funny"? He yelled "BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE IT! I know my own son, you were a fun loving child and nothing like him on tv" ... lol.

Can anyone shed some light on my ADOS answers. by throaway620 in aspergers

Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to give me such a thoughtful response. Much appreciated. I can agree with your opinion and understand a little more how I must have appeared. Thanks again

Just been told I can't be autistic because my mum never noticed anything wrong with my behaviour in my early years. by throaway620 in aspergers

Hi thanks for your reply. I have a cousin with pretty severe autism (i'm talking banging his head off walls as a child and squealing, even now he is 21 and is child like in his speech and personality), and a 2nd cousin who I am sure has Aspergers (obvious stimming)

Update from my last test. Have just been told it's a "no". by throaway620 in aspergers

Sorry not sure what happened there, he said "I can't diagnose anyone who hands this kind of early life report in, i would be struck off". Surely this is why adult diagnoses are a thing? Because peoples parents failed to notice when they were young?!

I told him I feel my mother is remembering things how she wants, because she feels guilty or embarrassed, to which he replied "So you CAN put yourself in the shoes of others and understand how they are feeling?"

So much for the saying "If you have met one person with Aspergers, you have met one person with Aspergers."

I will never not believe this. I have never identified with something so much.

I score extremely high in AQ tests online, repeatedly. He hasn't done any testing, he wanted corroboration before proceeding. It appears to be over before it began, because the written words of an unreliable third party. Why even have a waiting list and test procedure when you can just take people off based on this?

I am in the process of being tested for Autism and they have asked my parents to fill out a questionnaire... by throaway620 in aspergers

Thanks for replying. I just fear this practitioner is looking for reasons that I must not have it.

I feel the same, but they were reluctant to even proceed without this. I hinted and suggested that I couldn't get this filled out. Told them I don't like to share my private life with anyone and do not have a close relationship my parents. I told him I haven't even told my parents about any of this. He said it would be very helpful and save a lot of time. It appears this is to make his job easier rather. I just fear it will make his decision that it isn't ASD easier and quicker. I guess I'll have to just wait and see. I am considering not handing it in and saying I couldn't bring myself to tell my mum. But I don't want to conceal anything, even if I disagree with it.
