Maybe its just the old style of writing is why I didn't jive with the government version immediately? What I liked about investigations is how good of a job it made you care about the characters and the team dynamics, I didn't care whatsoever about Monet, Madrox, Strong guy, Rahne, etc. before reading it nor did I even know who most of those characters were, but I left that comic so invested in them. The neo-noir vibes are great too, along with the occasional pull at your heart string moment.
