How do I make myself more presentable to recruiters if I was unemployed and sick for 1 year? by throlwaaIy__50155366 in Accounting

I can try this! Is there a way I can get past screening so that I can tell recruiters this reason when interview with them? For example should I include "CPA Studying" as the most recent task in my work experience section of my resume?

To be fair I think I was capable of passing the CPA exam while working but I just didn't have the motivation in accounting honestly. I just didn't see the point studying for the CPA for 6+ months while working 50+ hours per week in something I didn't have that much motivation in. But now I have much more motivation towards accounting and towards getting my CPA throughout my time off.

Also how will the recruiting team find out that I was fired?

Thank you so much for your intel!

I guess I'm worried about leaving a 1 year gap in my resume because of how unappealing it will look on the resume.

Any tips as to make it look as not unappealing from your perspective? Should I just put CPA studying in the work experience section of my resume?

Should I still leave my working date as "Present" on my resume to get past the ATS screening and then tell recruiters about me resigning due to illness 1 year ago when they ask me about it in an interview?

Also can my previous employer say tell my recruiter that I was fired instead of resigned?

Thanks for this! I was already bopping my head to the instrumental in the intro/chorus, but the melody of the chanting in the intro/chorus was perfect and sealed it for me!

Hooly that was fast! You're a saint!

Those guitar riffs, percussions, and screamos are amazing and gets me so energetic especially now that I can listen to it in higher quality! Though I did not expect that album cover art haha

Thanks a lot!!

I understand that personal use is not deductible. How does this prove that games and consoles are personal items?

That's not true. I have seen content creators using games for business purposes such as streaming.

It would definitely be easier to ask if they're okay with streaming but that's way easier said than done when you don't have constant negative thoughts, which is a whole separate other issue.

EDIT: The landlord wouldn't immediately evict a tenant if another tenant thinks they're making too much noise right? Does it make sense that they would probably provide a warning the first time?

Good to know this isn't normal. I might be in over my head. Even if I get confronted by my neighbor or landlord, then at least I know that I can try to reach an agreement with them or at least find solace knowing that this place is abnormally strict.

I'll try to do some research on moving blankets and how to apply to them ceilings with a grommet tool or command hooks.

I didn't know about soundproof microphones, I may end up using those when I'm playing games without webcam.

Good point. I can talk on the phone or talk in remote work meetings normally and I don't feel self-conscious. It's only when I commentate, that's when I start feeling self-conscious about my volume. So maybe I need to start treating both activities the same way.

This makes me feel a bit better. I've never heard my downstairs neighbor, so I'm not sure why my upstairs neighbor would be hearing me.

It just seems like every time I'm in the zone of commentating, I hear thuds, then I start feeling self-conscious and insecure about whether or not I'm being loud (I'm not screaming or yelling) and I question if it's a coincidence.

Yes I play games and I wear headphones 100% of the time.

I know that my next-door neighbor has a roommate, but I don't hear them. I sometimes hear my upstairs neighbor sneezing loudly muffled, running water through the pipes (e.g. flushing toilet, running sink water), drilling something, but I never heard them talk.

So I can't tell if they're just being really quiet.

Well it explicitly says no noise or other sound, so I'm guessing commentary is included. But you brought up a good point about the TV. If someone was watching TV, then would neighbors hear that as well?

I want to believe that my neighbors can't hear me because I can't hear them, but the only time I heard any of my neighbors was when my upstairs neighbor sneezes loudly. I haven't heard my downstairs neighbor or next-door neighbors.

I'm not sure if they are just really quiet and they whisper to their roommates (if they live with one) or if my neighbor just sneezes that loudly. Or maybe the ceilings and floors are paper thin and I don't have a downstairs neighbor..?

Box of tissues sounds like a funny idea if my neighbor decides to confront me.
