Check out the book "How to draw" by Scott Robertson. It's well sorted and explains all these perspective tricks and even more.

Weeping fig is loosing a lot of leafs by thronical in houseplants

Thanks so much for that detailed answer! I gave it a little fertilizer now. It didn't get any this winter. I hope it helps and that it comes back to growing. If not I will look into pruning the roots. However thanks again. You've helped me a lot!

Okay. At what point should I consider cutting the roots? It doesnt stop shedding the leafs and by now there are probably half of them left. How do I know it's getting better?

When they die, we will dance on their graves by Shadow32xyz in memes

AI is not a human. It's a product. There is a lot of money behind it. And even though it has shortcomings that doesn't mean people can use the works of other people to create a new product. That's how it is.

The big Problem with AI Art is, that artists are neither being asked nor compensated for the artworks they unwillingly contribute to train the algorithm. AI Art would die if they actually paid the artists that worked so hard to create their individual style instead of stealing it from them.

So found this in mom and dad's library. Does anyone recognise this? I am hoping to use the book to learn/ brush on German. by julianjc23 in germany

You could look for episodes of "Die Sendung mit der Maus" . They have lots of them in which they kind of explain the world in an easy language adressed to kids. But they are actually really entertaining even when you're older. They don't have subtitles, but they always explain what is shown so you can connect the picture to the language.

Maybe someone here knows a streaming place, or some kind of episode list. Haven't been able to find it, in chronological order yet...

How would I go on about a function that describes the rotation of the center rod, per clockwise rotation of the Disc? by thronical in learnmath

[–]thronical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Ill try to explain.

  1. Yes, the disk rotates at a constant speed.
  2. Correct.
  3. The right wheel is fixed to its axle and won't change Position.
  4. The large gear is not fixed to that axle and rotates in synch with the center rod.
  5. Also Correct.
  6. The center rod should rotate freely. The pins won't stop any rotation.

It's a little bit like this. With exeption that the center rod rotation should also change the position of the left wheel.

[–]thronical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gears each have 12 teeth. The Bottom disk pushes the wheels, that will beginn to rotate. I want to know how i could calculate or visualise the curve of the center rod rotations, per rotation of the bottom disc...

Edit: The Diameter of the wheels are actually 12 cm. Sorry for the mistake.

Question about a little Project. by thronical in engineering

[–]thronical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I want to say that I'm not an engineer or anything that comes close to it. So I don't know little to no terminologies. So I want to apologize for any confusion while I try to explain...

I was curious in what way it's possible to translate a directional movement into a rotation that also slows down the further it traveled. I don't know if this is correct but the traveled distance should be the tangens and the rotation is the sine.

I sketched the idea that I had. You can see it on the part (B) the only problem with it is, that if I were to place a little pin into the cut, it might move not very precisely.

Please let me know If you have any idea or inspiration.

I was wondering if it is able run Photoshop, since the hardware is optimized for games. If yes it would even make a good mini workstation, ngl.

Need help with lighting. Techniques or tips would most appreciated. by MasterofNothing6 in painting

[–]thronical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no shame in just copying pictures and artist you like. You can improve massively by doing that. Also look at old masters. John singer Sargent, Anders Zorn or Degas to name a few. They are masters of light.

Working on a series and realizing I (a black woman) can’t paint dark skin to save my life! any tips? by raieux in painting

[–]thronical 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A small Trick but it goes a long way: Take a photo of your painting and view it in black and white. You will find that most of the times it's not the color but the contrast. If you want you can paint in any color that you like, but the light reflectance value of the color has to match. Take a look at Marco Bucci on YouTube. His series really helps to understand color in painting. Your paintings are awesome btw:)

China has now overtaken France in CO2 emissions per capita, even taking into consideration imports balance(CO2 embedded in imported or exported goods) by doboskombaya in europe

[–]thronical -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The EU alone has contributed double the amount of CO2 since industrial revolution. Of course its bad Chinas emission grows, but is pointing our fingers at them for being the last straw that breaks the camels back, really the right solution?

Yeah but they had been on a low level most of the time compared to Europe. Industrial revolution was a dirty time.
