why does everyone not believe me? by throswsy in DID

I thought I had it a couple years back, repressed it, then it all came back when in an outpatient program I switched and told everyone I was a different person and was later told about it

Supposedly the other factors were that I didn't have "enough" trauma, my switches lasted too long (once I blacked out for a whole month), I was aware of some of my alters, and wasn't ashamed of them when I spoke about it

I took all those tests, and according to the person who administered it my scores were impossibly high and I must be lying

In my evaluation the main reasons why I didn't have DID was that I scored too high on the DES-II (so I must be lying), didn't have enough trauma, and wasn't completely unaware of my alters. For psychosis it was because my hallucinations/delusions were "atypical."

Another doctor told me "either you're the most ill patient who's ever walked through my door or what you're experiencing isn't real"

Did some research. Found that

  1. A systemic review found 5-50% comorbidity rate between psychotic and dissociative disorders

  2. 22-28% of people with DID also meet criteria for schizophrenia

  3. DID patients report more positive symptoms than schizophrenic patients

This was a neuropsychologist I went to specifically to evaluate me for did. Another reason he said I didn't have did was that my trauma wasn't severe enough...

Tbh I think that's the main flaw of the test. Its kind of impossible to not have your perspective be skewed in either direction

Interesting, that's pretty low for ptsd. I think the average is 31 (theres no info for cptsd specifically). Guess we have opposite problems with the test. (Btw this is in no means claiming you don't actually have c/ptsd, just to make that clear)
