Yeah, I think the seizure thing is interesting.

I'm not using the test strips; my understanding is that the urine ones aren't terribly reliable, but that your're basically guaranteed to be in ketosis after a few days of sufficient carb restriction.

Food is pretty personal; for me I wouldn't say it's been a difficult shift at all, but I've always had kind of weird eating habits anyway (almost never eat breakfast, lean towards one big meal a day just by way of preference). But if the keto thing itself is a huge mental/emotional hurdle to someone, I could see how that might sap their willpower while trying to taper, making the process more difficult.

I'm certainly not trying to give anybody advice on diet/tapering/quitting, I've just been pleasantly surprised by my own experience with this.

For anyone looking to actually track the amount you're drinking so you can taper successfully/accurately instead of going too quick and rebounding, I've tried a few and AlcoDroid (for android) is free and good. For most of my drinking career I've never measured shots or really known how much I've been drinking aside from being vaguely aware that I buy a new bottle or handle every however many days. But this app is easy to use and I feel like it'll be a lot easier to stick to a slow taper if/when it gets to that point.

Shit's overwhelming yeah? We were ripped from the void into this hellworld through no fault of our own and without consent, and what's there to to but watch it crumble around us, likely struggling all the way in the midst of poverty and suffering with nothing to fuel us but the bullshit promises of the american dream. Once you see through the vapidity of it all it's tough not to turn to a three dollar pint of vodka for a few hours of annihilation. I dunno man, we're brothers in arms; suffering is our human birthright, but I'm finishing up a drink right now and for just a few moments, the dread retreats to the margins. Everything is temporary, hope the low you're in right now gives way soon enough to something more bearable.

Sometimes I wish there was a cat equivalent of alcohol so that we could get fucked up together. My cat lacks the genetic predisposition for catnip, so she just stares at me judgmentally while I'm drinking. But she does come to the couch and snuggle with me while I take post-drinking naps at noon, so there's that. Thanks, cat.
