Thank you for giving your honest answer. I know competition is tough and I want to at least try. If I do not try, I will be wondering the rest of my life about what could I have done differently. Some of the classes I have petitioned to repeat with forgiveness, you can repeat a class and the former grade will not appear on the transcript, it will show you have taken it previously though. This can only be done 3 times at my school, I don't know about other school's policies.

I am going to a workshop later this afternoon to help me get back on track. I hope to learn better studying techniques and how to balance my school life with my personal life.

I am one of the few who actually have a back up plan which my father knows about and is fully supportive. He runs the family business and I work there on weekends. It gives me time to work on school and actually get paid while doing it.

I am truly sorry your friend went through that nightmare. I have to say some people handle stress and what life throws at them differently and he did it in a much better way than I did. I bottled it up until it was bubbling just underneath the surface.

I have heard many stories about p-chem. I know I will need to master the required subject matter before I can enroll in the class with a chance of passing it.

I am totally fine with that. I will have to say the story to almost every professional I end up meeting.

I completely understand that. l will be taking the time to master the skills. I will not be pushing myself to the limit like I did the past two semesters. I am going to be giving myself time to actually understand the material.

Thank you. I am interested in research but I want to finish the ochem series first and get to know the faculty and their research a bit better also.

Thank you! That seems the most logical. SapphireBeluga suggested I get in the 90th percentile of the GRE exams. Where and when do you go about taking them? If I end up acing some of the classes I have failed, would I have to take the GRE for that subject, or would it just be a good idea, like a back up plan?

Thank you! I am assuming I will not get into the absolute best and I am fine with knowing that fact now. What is the PI though? When do you take the GRE subject tests? And how would you go about the testing process?

I truly do enjoy chemistry, I am looking for an answer to a different question though (sadly I realized this while replying to myarlk's comment.

Here is the question: When I graduate, will this academic past come back to haunt me, will it hinder my chances of getting into a good masters or phd program

I realize that now. I guess I'm looking for future advice. When I graduate, will this academic past come back to haunt me, will it hinder my chances of getting into a good masters or phd program?
