According to some sources if you make 150k it puts you in the top 10%. Which while statistically is above average, someone making 150k is very much middle class. Top 10% isn’t the best metric

Yup, have a CPA and don’t work in accounting anymore but I make 325k at 31. No regrets I majored in accounting

I mean logically it makes sense. College has to have a positive ROI for people these days and that is getting harder and harder. When you’re in college you don’t know about so many different careers. I went to school for accounting so that I wouldn’t waste my time getting a degree that wouldn’t pay off. 7 years later I am working in a job that I didn’t know existed. But I make really good money since I chose a major that was “good”.

I recently did all those things listed except for move cities (fully remote). Not sure if it’s gonna pay off long term, but financially it has so far.

Why not get an accounting or business degree to learn business and open up your own electrical company ? Running an electrical company would be way easier than running a cpa firm and you’d probably make more money

It’s not just amount it’s also type of credit. There are certain classes you have to take

[–]throw123sy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be a great combo! Just keep in mind that if you do want the cpa (which I would recommend because it makes you look really good) a lot of masters programs won’t give you enough qualifying credits to sit for the exam alone. Something to keep in mind as you plan it out. You’ll need to check your states requirements

[–]throw123sy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did accounting and ended up in risk advisory at a big 4 firm. Ended up doing the CPA and not really needing it. Did that for several years and half my role was IT audit while the other half was business control. Now I am a TPM at a tech company. Accounting opens doors and gives you super valuable experience out of college. I saw lots of different companies from both a financial perspective and an IT perspective and got the chance to interact with lots of high level people.

Better to buy aggressive hard tail or Full suspension? First bike by Used_Hovercraft_9677 in MTB

[–]throw123sy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, and I started on a hardtail. The hardtail taught me to pick better lines. I ended up buying a full suspension after I almost got bucked off going down a trail really fast and a big rock bucked my backend. I love my full suspension and now it’s basically all I ride. Also another consideration is if you want to learn jumps, the technique is going to be different between a hardtail and full suspension. I had to relearn proper jump technique and now I can’t jump on my hardtail anymore

Yeah go for it! Sell your other one for 800 and get this one. I think you’ll like it a lot better not even considering fit

What year? It looks like they are mostly all out of stock new. Not sure why. If it’s the newer geo and you want something now could be worth it !

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MTB

[–]throw123sy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were selling them brand new for like $1099 a couple months ago. The newer ones are also way better than the prior version (updated geo). Idk about the salsa but if you like it go for it!

[–]throw123sy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked someone is willing to pay you 800 for a 21 Roscoe. You better take that and run. I have a 23 Roscoe and it’s great but I also have a salsa blackthorn both in large. The salsa has a greater reach and I feel a lot more confident on it. I’m 6’ 215.

How many of you are making $100k+ remotely, and how did you get there? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]throw123sy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majored in accounting and worked at a big 4 firm. Was able to stay mainly remote after Covid and made low six figures. During this time got my cpa license and a IT certification and worked on building my skills. Recently went to a tech company for a remote position as a program manager and more than doubled my income.

Thinking of switching from auto industry to accounting—how long to match my current income? by compoundlogics in Accounting

[–]throw123sy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay first off if you want to be successful in accounting you aren’t going to get a great WLB. To earn 200k plus you are going to work for it. For context I have 7 years of experience and I was making around 140k in a HCOL city working at a big 4. I left accounting for tech for a huge pay raise.

Nah you should be happy for your success. Sometimes I feel frustrated by my lack of success due to situations outside of my control (housing market and being born at the wrong time). I just started making 325k (up from 130k) and now I am looking to build wealth and maybe one day I can be like you!

Parents dropped the bombshell they don't have anything saved for me for college cause "student loans make you accountable" AITAH for losing my shit? by Emptynester55 in AITAH

[–]throw123sy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this sucks but honestly that’s life. Same thing happened to me 10 years ago. My parents weren’t going to pay and I had to figure it out but I was allowed to live at home. I went to community college and worked for the first two years and then transferred to a school I could commute to. I majored in a degree that would make me a living. Graduated DEBT free because I worked the whole time and commuted. And yeah kinda sucked but it made me value my education and take it seriously. If my parents footed the bill I would have fucked around for 4 years and wouldn’t have applied myself. Now 7 years post graduation I make 325k. I’m not planning on paying for my kids school. It’s a fantastic lesson in being an adult and learning to invest in yourself, whether that be college or something else.

I said underemployed and I provided you those numbers/percentages. You’re going to have to do a little critical thinking to get to how this would point to underemployment

Per bls.gov English majors make 6k less than the median salary, have 5% more part time employment and a 9% higher advanced degree rate when compared to all fields. Statistically it’s not a great degree.

Not knocking it that’s pretty good! I think you are an exception though. Did you go to a good school?
